Baja Surf Shack: 258 Sq. Ft. THOW w/ Murphy Bed

This post contains affiliate links.

Murphy beds are such an awesome way to save space in a tiny house and not need a loft bedroom! You don’t have to make a bed every day (just fold it away!) but there are no ladders or stairs needed. This Baja Surf Shack makes use of the Murphy bed, as well as a “Murphy deck” that unfolds when you arrive at your destination.

There’s also a kitchen and bathroom in the set-up, and a “flex loft” which you can use for storage (or guests) if you would like. It’s for sale over at Tiny House Marketplace for $90,000.

And then it flips up for easy transport!

A breakfast bar folds out when needed.

Modern kitchen area with range hood.

The sink has views out the far window.

Awesome sliding pantry!

Mirrors on the kitchen make it seem larger.

some great ideas here – is the corner in the kitchen under the countertop being used for storage – if not how about a lazy susan? How high is the bed when it it in sleep position, could need a stool!

Looks like you can put anything you want there… Access to it is on the outer side under the folding bar stool table. The lower decorative slats have a cut out section set up like a door panel with hinges towards the corner to swing it out of the way and then a larger access panel you can then open, assuming it’s not attached to the slat door, to get full access to that corner space.

So you can put a garbage can in there or a lazy Susan if you want to store things that you can access from the smaller, always open, opening on the sink side… Should be pretty flexible…

Yes it did appear like a stool might be necessary!

Love the use of space with the Murphy bed. Lofts are not for me.

I love this house! I could definitely live in it…and it looks like it would be easier to pull than most THOW’s. Could be wrong about that, of course. But I would be happy in it, as is!

I’ve said for years that decks should fold down, and up for transportation. Only thing is I would make it larger, but I’m clumsy and it would be an added safeguard.

And there’s lots to like about the interior, sheer genius. And I’ve never used that term before on a tiny house.

Love it. Now if it was only available in New Zealand….

Love that garage door! The kitchen is great! Looks like an easy house in which to live. A few quick questions. . .where is clothes storage? Is there storage under the sofa cusions? Is that hanging storage on each side of the sofa? How do you get to the storage loft above the bath? What is that tiny door on the exterior next to the window? Why does that tiny deck on the end have hinges?

Hey Marsha, there was never any additional information released on this beyond the original Tiny House Marketplace listing. So will have to probably contact the seller to see if about any additional details.

I gather, though, that it was still being finished at the time of the listing. Like the photo that doesn’t have the Murphy bed installed yet and just shows the back wall but is shown in the later photos. So some details may not be in the photos yet…

There are more photos on the listing page, including some CG renderings. But additional detail to consider is that it’s solar powered. So the outdoor hinged side deck panel is probably where the batteries are stored. While that small/narrow door is the outdoor utility closet.

It is likely the spaces on either side of the Murphy bed are the his and her closets they mentioned. While the loft over the bathroom is ideal for additional storage… You’d probably have to add a ladder for access, though, a extendable ladder can be very compact and easily stored away…

Thanks for the additional info, James. It is a really nice house.
