This is the Worthington Dr Home by Lanefab Design/Build. It’s a beautiful 760 sq. ft. custom live/work small home built for a graphic artist in Vancouver. The home features a split-level floor plan with three levels of living spaces. Your living area and kitchen are on one side, then you’ve got an elevated office loft with your washer and dryer nook on the other side with access to an awesome outdoor balcony.

Finally, you’ll find your cozy bedroom and bathroom tucked-in downstairs which is partially sunk to achieve more overall ceiling height while meeting a height restriction code of 19 feet. I could see myself living in a small home like this forever! How about you?

LaneFab designs have always impressed me, and this is no exception. Indeed, I think this is my favorite to date. I’m a designer myself, and I could totally live in this place – a bright and open work space and a huge kitchen – sheer heaven.

Love it but don’t care for the “wood” treatment on the walls. Unfortunately
I doubt something like this could be built in California due to strict
    building codes.

Actually, most of them serve the same purpose as ADU’s and that is allowed in California…

Laneway houses typically get built in pre-existing lots, usually in the backyard and opening onto the back lane… Thus the name…

Like ADU’s they’re a way to increase population density and offset average housing costs, while keeping similar access to local resources.

This house has been featured on the Internet for years. In fact, I think I may have seen it first on this same site?

While that is a testament to the staying power of its design, and acknowledging that good ideas are perennial, let’s move on.

Another beautiful home! Great ideas throughout and the size is for many VERY MUCH a tiny or small home. I always appreciate the dreams and ideas of others who dare to display in this forum! Those that take the time and effort to show their ideas and accomplishments usually get an unusual amount of criticism here and I would suspect it would be from
daydreams who never ever put a tiny or small house together as negativity turns into a stagnant way of life. All the homes shown have merit and are meaningful to the builder or owner. I have built and/or assisted in several tiny homes as I’m sure many followers have, I always look forward to the next set of photos as invariably I will see something even if just an unusual type of trim that makes me think “ good idea!” If you have never built a tiny or small house then take all the ideas you like and leave the rest! Keep looking and with an open mind. Remember the photos you see are not just daydreams from “ could have, would have, should have” critics but hard work, dollars and a sense of accomplishment. Stay positive. Build your home!

    I love this design!
my only criticism is that I wouldn’t want the washer/dryer so far from the bathroom/bedroom space.
    other than that, great.

Conversely, I wouldn’t want the washer and drier UP on the third level. But then I use outside washing lines for hanging and only use the drier for emergency or when it teeming with rain. My 2c worth.

Interesting. Colors are not my choice, nor is the corrugated exterior. Relatively spacious, except for the bedroom – but at least it HAS a bedroom that is not a loft-with-no-headroom! Just sayin’.

Brenda R, the bedroom is really not that small; yes, smaller than any of my guest bedrooms in my 2745 sf house but i’d live in this in a heartbeat. love, love, love it.

Oh, yes, please! I love this. I currently rent a 460sf loft apartment with a kitchen about 1/3 the size of this one. This is pretty perfect for me.

I’ve been enamored of tiny homes and tiny houses on wheels for some time now, but this is my first time commenting. I think this home is absolutely beautiful, and would be perfect for me – just need to find a lot to put it on. I love the reclaimed wood accent wall, the concrete floors and the layout with the open loft. I too would prefer the washer/dryer to be on the level with the bedroom, but other than that, I think it’s perfect. I wonder if Laneway sells the plans for building this model? I looked at their website, but not in depth. Thanks for posting this!

I WOULD DECORATE THE INTERIOR COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, HAVING A MEDITERRANEAN AND TROPICAL INSPIRATION, BUT DAMN WE NEED MORE PLACES LIKE THIS. WE ALSO NEED MORE PLACES LIKE THIS HOME THAT ARE FRIENDLY TO PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AND THOSE THAT NEED WHEELCHAIRS. MYSELF, I MUCH PREFER A BATHTUB THAN SHOWER, BUT BOTTOM LINE WE DO NEED MORE HOMES LIKE THIS ONE. BRING IT ON!!!

I am looking for the plans for a set of stairs. They are seen on some of the tiny home websites (pictures only). They are a series of boxes that pull out from the bottom and form a set of steps. The boxes are on sets of drawer slides. If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

I never do understand why people quibble about paint colors (i.e. on the window treatment and the wood wall) and decor choices. Is it compulsory to put in a negative comment? Any way, I love the layout. Kitchen, living area, office and bedroom, are just spacious enough and are well placed to interact with each other without wasted space. I love the fact that the windows let in lots of light, but don’t really require you to live in a fishbowl– especially in the bedroom. The only question I have (and I apologize if I’m being dim) is why the stairs going to the laundry area are on rollers?

It does look odd at first glance, but I think you will find it is the door to the bedroom that is on a roller underneath the stairs.
