Adorable Abodes, “Bigger and better than tiny houses”

This post contains affiliate links.

Introducing… Adorable Abodes out of Northumberland Cty which is just north of Brighton, Ontario, Canada. They design and build “adorable abodes” that are “bigger and better than tiny homes” from as little as 350-square-feet up to 505-square-feet.

They are also drawing up plans for a community of these beautiful tiny/small homes. Sounds pretty cool, doesn’t it? We love this concept. Please re-share this story with anyone you know who may be interested/inspired by it. Thanks!🙏

Adorable Abodes Tiny Homes and Potential Community

Hi, I am Ralph. I am obsessed with the idea of building lovely, small houses, something one can be proud of to own. Small, to be sure, to have a small footprint on the environment. Small, but not excessively small as in tiny homes. And small as in affordable.

The adorable abodes I am building are closing the gap between 8 ft wide tiny homes and regular houses. They are 10 ft wide, and that makes a big difference. They are full 2 stories high, which offers full usable living space.

The abodes are to be constructed in modules, which can be transported to your site on your property and set-up on small foundations. They are starting at around 350 sqft next size up 505 sqft. If you do not have a site in mind, we are planning of a community to be created for like-minded folks of all walks of life, to live and practice living small and at the same time, increasing the quality of life.

Back to nature, this community will have the abodes tucked into the woods. The set-up of the abodes are car-free, fully self-sufficient with the application of solar PV systems for power, in-ground rainwater catch system and composting toilets.  All our units will be built and located a few minutes north of Brighton, Ontario, Canada, on 50 acres of untouched nature. It is designed for like-minded folks who want to live with and on less. Outstanding energy efficiency, well insulated, and totally self-sufficient. Built-in various designs for the buyer who has the foresight to realize what the future might hold and with this concept can act accordingly. Improving one’s lifestyle by going smaller. Away from monster houses and associated cost and ongoing expenses, besides the waste in resources and energy.

Homesteading and vegetable gardens might be a further option. For like-minded folks from our US neighbor, for you, we can offer part-time living and look after rental of unit for the remainder of the time. Our first model unit is finished, and you are welcome to tour it. If coming to our planned community is an option, I will personally show you the property by golf cart.

At present we are in the process of obtaining all necessary permits, which is not easy giving the somewhat unusual components involved. For more information visit our web page www.adorableabodes.ca, or call/email me at [email protected]. Financing might be arranged.

Be nice to see one finished and with furniture in. I like it but hard to visualize it like that. Outside is very interesting.

Check out the gallery on their website, it has three more photos of the finished interior…

I do not find this adorable, just for setting up a circular addition, or a tiny house for that matter. It is a shelter for weekend retreats. Nothing more. Way to little insulation to call it a proper house. And definitely not energy efficient.

The above photos are only of them putting the structure together, Alex didn’t post the photos of the finished interior you can find in the image gallery on the builder’s website. The finished product has a lot more than shown above…

Also note, it’s constructed with SIPs, which means it’s very strong, very well insulated, and very energy efficient… It’s not a simple wood framed structure…

On the builder’s website he describes the turret. I also see a turret as a pleasant sitting/reading area or even as a greenhouse for those plant lovers. Other designs for a cottage are drawn giving owners another choice. The writer did say ‘build designs to suite’ which may follow their theme. Living in ‘fairy-tale’ homes is a dream for some and not everyone.

I say pick your dream, choose your space, and work towards that to be happy.

This is not a two story house- is 1 1/2. the attached tourette is a bit too small and over cute by half. more of a miniature golf theme office. Other than the tourette not a lot different.
