A2B Electric Motor Bicycle Goes 20 MPH & Makes Great Urban Cruiser

How perfect would this A2B electric motor bicycle be for a tiny house that you can manage to place somewhere in town?

Maybe even in a city. With a 20 mile range and just 3 and half hours to recharge, it’s the perfect answer to a relatively short commute.

If 20 miles isn’t enough, you can always add on an extra battery to double the distance. It can travel at up to 20 mph without any pedaling assistance and all the way up to 40 mph while you pedal.

All of these numbers- of course- vary depending on your weight. It’s no way near as bulky as a scooter but it’s definitely heavier than your average bicycle at 73lb. The 3-inch wide tires help give it more of a rugged look, too. I’m just so happy to be able to add this to the bicycle section here at Tiny House Talk.

It comes with 7 gears, a twist throttle, and the main battery is stored inside the frame of the bike. No driver’s license is needed to drive either. It also packs a front and rear suspension for comfort and you can always add a basket and side bags so you can take your stuff with you or go do some groceries with it.

The bicycle was recently updated in 2011 and if you want you can watch a helpful A2B Electric Motor Bicycle review (below) from the guys over at NyceWheels so you can get an idea of how it works.

If you want to buy this bike and get the best deal, check it out on Amazon.com as it’s the lowest price I’ve been able to find on it.

Pros of the A2B Bike

It’s like a normal bike with electric assist so if your battery runs out you can always peddle. It’s also great if you want to ride in your work clothes and not have to change once you get to your job. Since you don’t have to peddle, you certainly won’t sweat as much.

It’s a 36V battery with a 500 watt motor and the entire set up is very discrete. In fact, you can hardly tell it’s an electric bicycle. To me, it looks more like a fancy/modern fold up bike since even the battery is hidden inside the frame.

The A2B has a fun motorcycle/scooter-like throttle on the right handlebar. The seat is comfortable and you’re sitting upright when riding so that people in vehicles can see you. It also has front and rear suspension for a smooth ride, even if you’re hitting speeds of up to 40 mph!

Cons

It’s not designed to go off road at all even though it has some really nice and wide Kenda Kraze tires on it. It’s made to ride on the pavement or at the most, terrains that are not rough.

I’ve heard that the tires and frame make it difficult and many times impossible to load it up on a public transit bus. So if you ever need to do that with your bike, move on because it usually won’t work because of it’s unique shape and larger tires.

I have been thinking about one of these and the Ebike from walmart is about $400 with an optional battery pack will go 40 mile range or more with pedaling. Perfect for short commutes and they can be recharged with a 100 watt solar panel and charge controller. No gas and good exercise!

I found the above listing on eBay for Bicycle Cargo Trailer/Solar Generator DIY Plans. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to charge your e-bike on longer rides without having to go home to plug in? I love this idea & plan on adding it to my sustainable lifestyle… It would also be great for a biking/camping trip, you cold keep your cell phone & other portable electronics charged no matter where you camp, as long as it’s sunny.

You could even have one of those little 12 volt coolers that are used in cars & trucks & not need a cooler with ice!
