This is the story of a real tiny house community in Florida (it’s not a vacation park). It’s called Circle Pond Tiny Home Community and it’s located in Ruskin, Florida and today we can have a peek inside thanks to Andrew Bennett of Core Housing Solutions.

In the video tour below, the owner of the community talks about the diversity of the people who live there and how they’ve developed such a wonderful tight-knit community. I don’t know about you, but I just can’t wait to see more stories like this.

Well how much does it cost to live there? It doesn’t say anything in the video about the lot space and the hook ups.

I have heard that it is somewhere around $550/month so you can have a ballpark figure.

This community is new, small, and selective so I’m not sure if they are even looking for any new tenants at the moment which is probably why you didn’t hear a sales pitch about it in the video. My point in posting it here is simply to inspire anyone out there to re-create something similar to this so we can have more and more developments like this across the country and beyond.

        Hey Alex –

There are several tiny house communities popping up throughout Florida now. I live in Alachua County (Gainesville), FL. Last year, the county commissioners approved 3 Tiny House Cottage/Villages to be built here. I haven’t heard yet when the building will start but I’m watching and will report when I find out. There’s also a new Tiny House Village that will be made up of the Escape models, which should open in Tampa, FL, within the next 3 months. Orlando has at least 2 Tiny House Villages, one sits beside a lake. There’s also a refurbished RV park called Harbour Belle, which is located along the Gulf of Mexico, which is made up Park Model Tiny Houses. The prices for those houses start around $50K and go up to $79K (that’s the most expensive house I’ve seen for sale there so far). I believe the monthly lot cost starts at $550 and goes up depending on which lot your park models resides. That monthly lot fees also includes quite a bit of amenities such as use of the community room, in ground pool & hot tub, and it may include some utilities. Overall, Florida is becoming a friendly Tiny Home state because the zoning laws are finally changing to keep up with this movement!!

Hi Melissa, can you point me to any resources regarding setting up a Tiny Home Community in FL, specifically in Hillsborough County? As far as I can tell, Tiny Homes aren’t yet recognized in the zoning regulations in Hillsborough . .

          Thanks,

          John

    Hi,
I’m currently designing my tiny house and searching for a builder and a beautiful community to park her in long term. I’m a 61 yr old widow with 2 beautiful inside kitties and hope to rescue a dog in the future. I handmake reclaimed leather earing’s, bag’s all custom just because I love being creative. Can you please tell me the exact location and all cost, please.
My cell phone 714-865-9308 you are welcome to text me anytime it’s really the best way since I don’t really check my email often enough. I’m currently located in Wilmington, NC and just renewed my apt lease for a year to build my tiny house and work everything out. Looking forward to talking to you and visiting too 🙂
    Sincerely,
    Lori Rugato

I met them last yr and very nice people and they are looking for new tenants. The area has some of the best fresh or salt water fishing in the world and especially for retirees and the services needed are close by.
Lots of private Mobile home lots all along the gulf coast, many cheap with an old trailer on it cutting it’s value. I did just that, ‘repaired’ the trailer by taking 50% off and building my TH on top of the old frame, no permits needed.
Also in this county, I and the TH park is in, you can build a ‘shed’ up to 150sq’ without permits.
Those needing an income should think about buying a trailer park and switch it to a TH park.

Where is this tiny house community located? Where can I look at some tiny homes to buy? Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

I am 64 yrs old and cannot afford any of the high rents that keep going up and just for studios crazy prices asked. I am alone and get very little Social security a month wondering if there is any way to buy, rent to own a tiny home in a community so I am not isolated, will feel safe and be with nice people. I live in the State of Florida would consider other places if cheaper but prefer no driving on ice or snow or colder weather.

Hi Joan I’m in a similar situation. I don’t see Hillsborough being an option anymore for anyone on a fixed income! I can’t believe at our age we have to basically start over and possibly leave an area maybe even the state we have called home for 50+ years.

Hi Joan Ferrante or Natalie C. McKee
I recently read a comment of yours on Tiny House Talk about searching for an affordable alternative housing besides expensive apartment rentals. I currently live in Vegas which has become one of the largest greed and crime cities of the country. I’m a senior lady also looking. If I may ask, were you able to find something at Escape Tampa Village and if so what’s your opinion? I just want to see if it’s worth while to make such a move. There aren’t any tiny homes available here in Vegas except for Vets downtown. Like yourself apt. rents have got totally unaffordable especially for alot of seniors. Any information would be wonderful. Thanks. Sincerely Joyce Y. from Las Vegas.
