Meet Trysh and Saul Martinez and their self-built $25,000 THOW. If you just showed me pictures of the home and had me guess how much it cost, I would have easily said somewhere between $70k-$90k. Somehow using mostly reclaimed materials and Craigslist finds, the couple managed to build a tremendous tiny house without taking on debt to get it.

A few super cool features include the 7-foot-long drawers they tucked under the kitchen for clothing and shoe storage, and a closet loft entirely dedicated to hanging clothing. Those two features allowed them to have very little wall storage, leaving the place feeling beautiful and open.

They work as rehabilitation therapists in San Diego (@tryshka on Instagram), and despite a difficult search, found a place to park their home in the metropolis via Craigslist. We got to do a Q&A with the couple, which you can read at the end of the post, and we also included a link to their video tour with Living Big in a Tiny House.

Here’s a 250 square feet micro cabin I thought you might like.

It’s a studio set up but it’s self contained so you’ve got all the amenities you need in here.

There’s a bathroom, water heater, kitchenette, oven, microwave, mini-frig, coffee maker, etc.

And I love the deck out front and how you can open up the doors and windows and get a nice breeze through the house.

Get excited today for the story of how these brothers-in-law started a van conversion business in the United Kingdom,  and a photo tour of their latest bespoke creation designed for a tall dog-owner. Jorvik Van Conversions was born in the midst of lockdown, and they’ve been converting vans ever since.

The Sandy is their signature base design, which can be customized to meet the client’s needs. In this conversion, there’s a special dog crate area under the bed, as well as an extra long and wide bed to make it comfortable for the owner to sleep in. All Sandy models have a great L-shaped couch area in the front of the van, which can become a spare bed if needed. Be sure to read our Q&A with Jorvik Van Conversions after the pictures!

Salina and Marcelo met in California while Marcelo was living his dream as a professional skateboarder. They got married and traveled for Marcelo’s competitions. But their rent in San Diego was crippling, and they wanted more out of their lives. They decided on van life, but couldn’t find an affordable van — so they bought a 90 sq. ft. short bus instead!

It took them 6 months from buying the bus until they moved into it, and they did a great job! There’s a hidden bathroom, a kitchen space, and a fixed queen bed in the back. They also have a unique table covered with pictures of their travels. What part do you love the most?
