The Swifts were paying $2,000/month for their condo in San Diego, but when Heather and Michael decided they wanted to have more time with their son and be able to home school, Heather decided to quit her $60K/year job. This meant something had to give!
Heather’s parents lived outside of the city, near her brother, and offered to allow them to park on their property. So the couple sold just about everything, bought a new 5th wheel RV, and moved! Now they have far more family time (including time with cousins!), are paying down debt quickly, and enjoying minimalism.
Their RV features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a spacious living area/kitchen. While they didn’t do a full reno on the place, they’ve truly made the place their home. We had the pleasure of interviewing the couple, which you can read below the photo tour! Follow their tiny life on Instagram here.
If you haven’t seen the Alto Safari Condo Travel Trailer yet then you’re in for a treat. Especially if you like teardrop campers because this is like a hybrid of a travel trailer and a teardrop camper.
This RV is like a high tech luxury teardrop trailer (only much larger) and you can still pull it with your car!
Remember the Silver Pearl houseboat on Airbnb that Alex showed off last week? Genevieve and her husband own that boat, but also live off-grid in their very own floating home called the “Island Gypsy.”
Before they invested in a vacation property, they moved into the Island Gypsy — she felt like were “cheating” being hooked up to shore power, so they figured out how to create an off-grid home and have been living that way for a few years!
She sent us a beautiful description of their life on the water, which you can read after the photo tour of their houseboat. Enjoy!
