950-square-foot small house in Harbor Beach, Michigan for sale (with land)

This is a 950-square-foot two-story small house in Harbor Beach, Michigan that’s on the market for $50,000.

There’s an interesting story behind this house because it was originally in Detroit but made its way to Harbor Beach more than fifty years ago, according to the listing on Zillow. And it gets better… This is only half of the original house. The other half is nearby on another lot.😊 So what do you think, is this a good opportunity to live small for less than the cost of most tiny houses on wheels? Is something like this a better option for you than a THOW?

Very cute house and good price seen through the lens of West Coast prices. Just have to wonder about how well it might be insulated. Michigan winters are not that mild. Or short. Though it seems to be presented as a summer place.

I’m also wondering about year round use – any heat or a/c or overhead fans? Is the road drivable during the winter

I now see overhead fans but am also wondering how much land comes with the house

Found this place some time back from another source & was hoping to look into it more but, a broken ankle stopped my inquiry. Michigan is my home state (born in Detroit). Have a son that lives in “the thumb” & thought it’d be a perfect place for me. Do have more questions. Already know Michigan cold & may not be able to handle it. The old bones are older, etc. Been in the state where I live now for a long, long time. It’s weather is better for an old gal. Anyway, love the house for sure. Warms my ole heart!

A very charming house with a nice homey feel! It does repeat the complaint I have about most small houses we have seen built or renovated in the last decade and that is the kitchens never utilize the space very well. Are the kitchens designed by men? Ok, maybe too harsh but I think women know to include as much counter space as possible. At the very least there should be an island on wheels that would fit next to the stove by the window. Ideally, the kitchen should be L-shaped with cabinets going around the corner to the stove. Even with that, there seems to be, at least from the photos, room for a small island on wheels that could be moved to wherever it is convenient. Otherwise, I think it is a fabulous little house! Would love to see the other half. Interesting that they were able to create two whole houses from one and to move it so far. Curious how much land comes with the house at that price, too.

I love it. But I have a feeling it’s already sold. To good of a deal to last
