Unique Langue dâ Oc Cottage in France
This is a small cottage in the heart of the National Parc Naturelle de Haute Languedoc in the south of France. It’s situated in a tiny monumental village on a hill top with a small chapel of 1000 years old and beautiful views over the hills. The cottage itself is a 17th century stone farmers sheepfold / sheep stable which had been abandoned for some decades. It’s now been transformed into a small house. It’s been renovated in the original regional style using only ecological materials and traditional building methods. It took 10 years of hard work replacing the roof, partly rebuilding stone walls, adding windows and insulation. It’s 890 sq. ft. are divided over 2 floors and a loft. The first level has the kitchen with a door to the garden, a fire place and the bathroom with a bath tub and a compost toilet. The second level (street level) has the living and a staircase to the loft. The loft has room for a double bed.
The region is tranquil and has a rich history. Nearby is a lake with healing water that’s being used for skin treatments. The city and airport of Montpellier are at one hour driving distance. The cottage is for sale for 119.000 euros (approximately $132,500)
