Very cute place but I think I’d opt for a slim apartment sized refrigerator or remove/replace the cabinets do it doesn’t partially obstruct the window. The tile countertops are lovely but if they’re real tiles they are a bear to keep clean due to the grout work and the glazing gets nicks or scratches that means they can become unsanitary.

I like the tile, but thought the lower cabinets were not of a usable depth, no toekick either? Lots of great decorating ideas, esp the shower curtain drape in the bedroom, it’s graphic, filters the light, hides the view and won’t fade as they are usually synthetic. Great stained glass lamp collection, even the garden has one.

I saw a woman once cover her tile counters with epxoy so it sealed the tiles and grout and kept yucky stuff out!

I’m in New Zealand and I had tiles in my kitchen and they were/are a pain the clean. 20 years down the track and I solved the problem. Used Formica with a tile pattern. Instant solution that solved years of grout cleaning.

There’s many options these days, makes it an avoidable issue…

Besides various ways to put a seal coat over the grout, there’s also alternatives like there’s now a range of epoxy based grouts that are very durable and low maintenance… There’s faux tile products that can give the same look but is actually vinyl or other product that is much easier to maintain… There’s tiles that have click together system like you often see on flooring products that gives the look and uses actual tiles but avoids the use of grout and mortar… and, even if you do get stick with grouted tiles, there’s now easier ways to clean them, repair them, and plenty of products to seal them up and make them last a lot longer without constant maintenance.

Great use of colour! Nice house. too bad its in Virginia, well some of us live in Canada, but the ideas the house provides are certainly worth a steal.

I almost bought this house a year and a half ago sight unseen. It also has a little loft that could be used as a bedroom and a nice large storage shed with electricity that could actually be a guest cottage. There was a tiny litter box room with a cat door that went into a catio outside. It was perfect for someone with a mostly indoor cat. It also is next door to a farmer’s market, which was a big plus. The big issue I had was that it sits right on a busy highway. I was afraid my escape artist cat might get run over. Looks like it never sold but is being rented out. I often think of this house as “the one that got away.”
