This is the story of Penny. She’s a 77-year-old who sold half of her stuff to simplify into a tiny home on wheels with a main-floor bedroom.

Penny lives in a tiny house community that’s on the coast of Oregon. She loves her kitchen and downstairs bedroom, but doesn’t like her loft even though she doesn’t sleep up there, she still uses that space for storage and there’s also a doggy treadmill up there too! So she’s actually selling her tiny house so that she can get a new one. Learn more below!

I love Penny and her beautiful THOW and would be interested in buying it except for the small actual living space that she
called the great room. All the best to you Penny!

Love this tiny house design and Penny is fabulous! Wondered about a washer/dryer setup in there though.

I saw Penny and her THOW’s in another video or online source last week. According to that source, she sold her lofted THOW’s already (it went very quickly) before her one story/no loft tiny house was built! Not sure where she’s living in the interim…

I like the idea —- there aren’t many tiny homes with disabled people in mind. Yet, the only problem is that her house isn’t FULLY handicap accessible (looking to the future ….. i’m almost 70 but am already disabled from chronic illnesses —- ALL of us become disabled at some point in our lives, if only because of age.). I am a retired residential architectural designer/drafter and a STRONG advocate for “Aging in Place” Tiny Homes and handicap accessiblity. (LOL is there such a thing? LOL) It is also VERY difficult for me to maintain my home and i don’t have the money to hire anyone (my only income is SSD/SSI). I live in a 55+ community not too far from where Lady Lake.

“Aging in place” tiny home is the magic answer. I strongly agree with your sentiments and would love to see 1. simple but functional
      2. accessible
      3. non-glamp, non-AirBnB real living
      4. Community of such housing for mutual support and emotional well-being.

She said we could find her on Facebook but there’s no link to it? I love her tiny home and I was wondering about the beautiful picture in her bedroom. Anyway I love her taste and she made a beautiful home.

She couldn’t provide a link, so just search for “Penny Burt” on facebook to contact her…

Hmm, looks like her account is gone… It was working before…

          Causes could be…

          1) She took it down or changed the account…

          2) Facebook took it down, might be censoring her or claiming she breached one of their rules…

          3) Technical difficulties with the server, which means it might come back later…

Way 2go Penny! I love your video showing us your adorable THOW, u did great! The video was just how I like. Very informative but not long winded, as some can be. I hope u get your ground floor tiny 4 u & your doggy. (Wished he/she made an appearance in video) Maybe next time. I’m sure I’m not alone when I say we’d love 2 see the new one & doggy 2! U live about 2 hours north of me. Enjoy the coastal breeze in your new THOW. Best wishes, stay safe. 😎😷☔🌦🌈🌞

One thing I have wondered about these tiny house advocates–do any of them have interests, jobs or hobbies that require space? I too am incapable of climbing a ladder and crawling around a loft, but there never seems to be enough space to do quilting, do painting and other artwork, have adequate space for a library (I do research and write on historic subjects and need my reference books), or even have room for a large desk/computer and printer, etc. This tiny house had a first floor bed, but almost no living space.

Ideally, you would have it designed for your needs. Everyone is just different in what needs they have and how they prioritize them, but there’s also many different ways to do it.

Like one solution is to get a space you can add a shed, which gives you a separate space you can use for work, projects, hobbies, storage, etc.

The “Potter’s Community Tiny House With A Studio” article, for example, is an artist that has a shed that she does her pottery and teaches.

Not everything has to be inside the tiny house… While there are designs where people set aside space for an office or to do things like run a business. Some people are good at doing that with very little space but others just get bigger homes.

One example you can look up is the article, “275 Sq. Ft. TINY HOUSE with Separate INDUSTRIAL Kitchen” with a family that ran a Donut Shop with half of the structure and the rest was their home…

There have also been tiny houses that were basically traveling libraries…

Others have walk in closets, do canning, have a computer room, gaming room, there’s even some examples with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, just may be a little claustrophobic for some with the compartmentalized spaces but the limitations is often your imagination for how it could be designed and of course exactly what your needs and preferences are…
