540 Sq. Ft. Ocean View Tube House

This post contains affiliate links.

This is a 540 sq. ft. ocean view tube house on the western coast of Oregon in a small town called Neskowin. It’s currently on the market for $189,000. When you go inside you’ll find a spacious open floor plan. There’s a fireplace in the living area which looks out onto the beautiful outdoor balcony. A great spot to relax and enjoy a morning cup of coffee, isn’t it?

In the kitchen you’ll notice a skylight that lets in plenty of sunlight. The bedroom is open to the living area but if you want you can close it off with curtain or you could even add a permanent wall. But right now it functions a lot like a studio. Do you think you can live simply in this little cabin? Either way please enjoy and re-share below. Thank you!

What an interesting house; great use of space. And it’s located in one of the most beautiful places on earth! I never get tired of visiting the Oregon Coast.

The cost has to do with the land and the ocean view not the size of the house. Still a tiny house. I love the shape. Would like to know how it was built.

Thank you Amy. Also I would add for the area this is actually fairly low in price.

I really like this house- ran across it on a house search before. I really am interested in who designed the house. In my fantasy mind it was built by a young bachelor who needed a shack to drive his dune buggy/jeep to with his newest lover in the passenger seat. I do like the shape- It does remind me of a little of ship building. I think the curved walls would help circulate the air. I would bet the original fireplace was one of those cone shape fireplaces. The roof might need some consideration. It reminds me of pointing a telescope towards the sea. You do share the driveway with two other houses- one up the drive and one at the bottom of the hill/drive. I think the house would be cozy in a foggy rainy day.

I saw the same thing happen on “This Old House.” Initially, they started out with houses that needed quite a bit of work but most of the labor could be done by the homeowner. Over the years they became interested in unbelievably expensive renovations which put the vast majority of their projects out of the reach of “normal” folks who didn’t make a ga-zillion dollars a year. It is happening on HGTV and DIY now with programs featuring $500,000.00 and up properties to invest in for “income properties,” etc. I just watch one where the people were spending $500,000.00 for a property (their first) which would have an expensive rental unit and in which they would also live. I’d like to know where they got the $500,000.00 initially to be able to purchase such an expensive property?

Shades of the 70s! Interesting and unique, and looks like a stunning site. Best bring cash because I can’t imagine a bank finance unless the value is in the land. This looks like a summer hang-out the kids would remember long into adulthood.

This reminds me of the old Quonset huts.
