The only thing I would change is I’d have a tub/shower instead of just a shower.

I love it! I especially love there is room for a full size washer/dryer. I would, however, have to have a bathtub/shower even if I had to go with a tiny square bathtub. I also think I would change it from a gooseneck to a standard with a lower level bedroom where the master is. There is also no closet space in loft bedroom.

I agree lower level master, no gooseneck and a full wall closet in master as there is very little storage

Beautiful design and open living. I would add a pantry and a main floor cleaning set for coats and boots brooms etc.

Its lovely! I am not a fan of folding tables, though, as they will inevitably get left out all the time, especially with a family of 4, and then it is in the way, or makes moving around harder. I say design a table that can stay up, then incorporate some kind of storage within, under, or around it, and even in the seating.

Love the design. Wish more tiny builders would put the staircase along the back wall as it frees up more living space. What is the cost on this and is it in Canada or US? Sorry didnt notice.

I would have to have a real couch. These built-ins look uncomfortable and I am sure they are.

I like the overall design. I would be tempte to flip the living area to face the sofa and stairs in tbe opposite directions. It would give adults more headroom at the top of the stairs. Drawers and cupboards could then be built along the lower side with window above the beds. Limits space there but is a nice quiet retreat visible from master bedroom at night.

Lovely home. You did ask what I would change….I’m a bit old fashion, minimalish, and short statured. That said, I’d change the bathroom sink, sunken style instead. Love the stackable w/d. Kitchen…no oven/stove, just countertop and lower cabinet, or drawers. I use induction and propane burners, and have a Breville counter top oven so do not need the stove-besides, that set up gives much more work space. Love the frig/freezer and sink. An IKEA folding table would be much handier and versatile than the wall mount table. The couch is fine, but would have to be customized for my short stature to make it comfortable. The master bedroom could do with optional bed size, with nightstands built to suit. Such as a full bed. Last-personally I do not watch tv, no bracket needed. And the floating shelves just ‘feel’ out of balance and random, not useful.

Overall-it is a great house, lots of room and storage, feels open and airy. I feel reasonably sure that most people would wish a few tweaks here and there just to make it their home. It is a great build and obvious that a lot of thought went into its design.

    Thank you for sharing. M

Love, love, love this design. However I would make a few changes. I would put in a tub/shower and smaller stackable washer/dryer combo, do a smaller full size frig and add a small pantry in kitchen. Since the ceilings are low, I’d remove the two shelves in the living area and add either a wood burning fireplace or an electric one and remove the mini split system. AC is unimportant to me. I’d use the second loft as “attic” storage and make the couch convertible into a bed if ever needed. Also, in order to make this useful for off grid living, add solar.

    Very nice and comfortable but….
    1) I need a real closet and the one in the main bedroom is just the ceiling of the bathroom below. There is no height to it for comfortably hanging clothes. It is more like a storage area than a closet.
    2) I am not a fan of built in furniture and therefore would add a real pull out couch.

The ONLY thing I would change is the height of the secondary loft. I would rather have a wee bit more headroom so I could use it as an office.

I agree but in my case I would like to drop it down to put a bed set up where you can walk to the end and have a closet and the bed you can sit on from the last step. But hey great minds..

Is this tiny house 8 feet wide? Any wider and it would be much more complex when it was time to move it.

More tiny homes need walls and doors on the loft bedrooms for privacy

    • James D.
      October 19, 2021, 2:16 am

That’s certainly something you can prefer but is arguable to apply it to anyone else, because that’s a personal preference that doesn’t apply to everyone. Especially, as most tiny homes are custom built they’ll reflect the preference of the owner, which just isn’t going to be the same for everyone…

Like someone living alone, and is in a location far from anyone, wouldn’t have a need to isolate themselves as there would be no one else to isolate from… While there’s also different levels of privacy. Some people are fine just having the loft out of line of sight. Others may prefer walls and a door but that comes with trade offs that not everyone will agree are worth it, and yet others may think that’s not enough and need the room sound proofed or even in a separate structure to fully isolate it.

There’s just not one single way to do it for everyone, in all possible situations, and meet every possible need or preference… This is just very apparent with custom built homes as they show just how different and diverse homes for different people can be…

Besides, there are always trade offs, especially when dealing with smaller spaces where you may have to prioritize and optimize the space to get the most out of it, which invariably means dealing with compromises but that’s also the benefit of custom building as you can have it optimized to what works best for you and it really doesn’t matter what other people choose…
