    Is this a Murphy Bed???

With all that space in the bathroom, a tub would have been fantastic. Other than that, I really like it, especially the outdoor space.

I agree re the tub – plenty of room for a full bath. But there’s also room for a larger fridge – e.g. the LG 10.5 cubic ft. Meantime also space for a 24″ oven/range – then this would be ideal. It’s nicely done with the clerestory windows and the deck.

Note, unless you’re living in Texas, this company primarily sells just the prefab shell of the house as a DIY kit and you’ll have to provide the stone and pier foundation, utilities, and interior finishings…

But that does mean you can adjust it to your liking…

I see a lot of posts about bathtubs. I understand the idea of soaking as I have many old joints with arthritis. For myself I would prefer the shower in the bath and a hot tub on the deck. I enjoy the site a lot. It makes me think of possibilities for possible if’s in my future. I like to see the various little things people design into manufactured homes, also what individuals do to make the house their home.
Keep up the good work. Tiny houses are not for everyone. But I hope that the market and rules open up more to allow those who would benefit from this lifestyle to buy, build or even rent a home they can afford that makes them comfortable.

What was the cost for this, not including the deck – but with bathroom and electric hookups, etc.?

    Wasted space in bathroom.
    How do you bake food?
    Where do you sleep?

Chuck, it’s a modular design and they usually don’t built the entire house… They primarily sell you the shell and that shell can be used for multiple purposes ranging from a simple backyard office space or workshop to a tiny house, which includes everything in-between!

So it’s up to owner what’s inside of it…

It’s funny but you always see tons of storage for kitchen stuff or bathroom stuff in tiny homes but I think when people build a tiny the always forget about a bathtub and most of all a closet . I would rather have more closet space then kitchen storage lol this house is amazing . Very very roomy

Hey Julie, it’s not that they all forget but rather many of them simply don’t all have the same priorities and preferences.

This company in particular, isn’t catering to just one specific range of uses for their products but rather leaving it up to their customers to specialize the structure however they see fit…

Some people actually prefer to shower, for example, and there are other ways to store things besides a closet. Especially, when dealing with a platform that promote creativity and finding alternative and new solutions.

The thing to realize is that people can be extremely diverse and thus any given way of doing things will not fit everyone equally well, but including different ways of doing things is actually more inclusive of how different people may want to live their lives and/or use the resources available to them.

Having a platform where everyone can optimize their home to their personal preferences, lifestyle, and needs simply exposes our diversity and better allows us to live the lives we actually want to…

While leaving each of us free to make different choices that better fit ourselves… In the end, the actual point is to have the freedom to do it the way you want and it doesn’t have to fit anyone else but you… and vice versa when viewing what other people have created for themselves…

Chuck, there’s a set of double doors to the right of the refrigerator, which could either be a good-sized closet or a Murphy bed. I’ll have to admit, though, that if it actually is a Murphy bed, it’ll block the bathroom entrance when it’s lowered.

    • James D.
      September 14, 2017, 8:33 pm

Hey Dick, it’s unlikely to be a Murphy bed with how deep it is, at around two feet, and is thus far more likely just a closet… There is also no mention of a bed at all in the unit description.

So the owner of this unit probably didn’t need to sleep in it… Keep in mind these units can be used for just about anything… An Office, a place to hold meetings, a storage shed, a place for a little me-time when the main house isn’t private enough, a workshop, an art studio, a club house, etc.

The company typically sells just the shell, especially if you’re outside of Texas, and it’s the owner that finishes out the interior to whatever they want and that isn’t always to turn it into a full home…

I really appreciate the variety on your site. I’ve seen people complain when you show something other than what THEY are interested in (wow… selfish much?), but it’s valuable to see ideas from a wide variety of places. Thanks for that.

Agreed, showing the range of diversity helps explore what’s possible and stimulates the imagination and ultimately promotes creativity.

Though, I’d put most negative comments off to how the existing housing system, and in no small part the anti-social aspects of our modern society, has indoctrinated people into a way of thinking that is more conclusive of a one size fits all way of thinking with the idea that there should be a certain specific way to do things in order to have any real benefit from it and thus any variation from that set path automatically is considered wrong and even harmful.

Essentially, just because someone may be interested in something that is new to them doesn’t mean they will fully appreciate or comprehend it in more than how a given paradigm of understanding that is determined by what they are used to allows them…

All understandable, given how it’s part of human nature to view our world through the prism of our pre-conceptions and personal biases, especially when it is easy to be unaware of any other point of view…

The ability to free ones mind to truly open our awareness to possibilities that we may not have ever considered before is unfortunately not a trait that comes easily to everyone, especially, if they had lived a lifetime doing the opposite…

But we are always capable of change and the great thing about this movement is that it is exposing people to such a diverse range of ideas and concepts that it can’t help but to open people’s minds and free them to think in new ways…

While, of course, opinions will always vary by the individual. I’m optimistic more and more people will at least understand other points of view and that there isn’t really just one way to do things and there is value in diversity…

Totally agree. So many people come on this, and I suppose other, websites with a me, me, it’s all about me attitude.

I look. I see. Many I don’t particularly care for, a few I dislike with a passion, but then something comes along out of left field and blows me away, often with a thought of why the heck didn’t I ever think of that???

This site, take a bow Alex, is in my mind “the” Premier website on Tiny Homes, bar none.

The wedge of windows at the top (clerestory, I guess) is appealing. That makes it look interesting both inside and out.

I’m guessing couch opens into a Sofa Sleeper, just move the coffee table…

  • September 13, 2018, 5:38 pm

Would be so easy to continue the bathroom wall down to the front by the foir and put a bed in there. There is another sofa over by the kitchen area so that could be used for a living space. Add a table and couple of chairs plus an easy chair instead of sofa and you can work from home.

    • September 13, 2018, 5:40 pm

Should read door not foir. Don’t know what this auto spell thingy is thinking half the time.

The spell thingy might be taking lessons from the President’s twitter style.

Yikes… let the flames begin… lol
