It’s always amazing how much more spacious the 10-foot-wide tiny homes feel compared to the 8-foot-wide ones, and this “Big Bertha” from Indigo River Tiny Homes is no exception. You especially feel it in the U-shaped kitchen on the far end of the tiny home.

The primary bedroom is a loft with standing room around the bed, and the second loft is split to allow two kids to have their own space. Finally, a couch doubles as a hide-a-bed for any guests. Do you like this layout?

Pretty…but no real living space. Would rather have more general living room area, and lower bedroom.

I love those standing lofts with the storage. If anyone with two kids buys this, they will have to figure out the family meal thing, which shouldn’t be too hard. If a couple more stools doesn’t do the job, the table could have a bigger top or they could use another table.

That kitchen has more counter space than what’s in my regular house size kitchen!

Love all that counter space in the kitchen. Not a huge fan of all the wood, but love the space utilization. Also, the lofts are high enough that a desk could be put up there with a chair as an office in one of the twin lofts. Love the higher loft ceiling too! Too many of them are clautrophobically low!

Super nice tiny! I love the kitchen, bath AND lofts. (Is that a bookcase or shelving unit I see at one end of the loft? Like the wood and love the exterior colors — very cool.!

Me personally, yikes those stairs. I suspect most people would have 2nd thoughts about those.

First and foremost, this is a very nice home. The colors and materials are all fabulous! Most people will think it is perfect the way it is…and rightly so for them…and others will see how they would make a few changes to accommodate their personal tastes and needs. I hope you don’t mind that I share the changes I would make. For me personally, as is the case for all of these suggestions, I would simplify the exterior. I don’t think the color is awful but I’d probably like something more toward green and softer, plus there are too many different finishes. I’d lose the part that looks like vertical metal of some sort and just have it be wood…and the wood is a nice color. In the kitchen, it really bothers me that the refrigerator is smack in the middle of the counter space. I’d move it over on the other side of the stove, put a window where the refrigerator was and put the sink there so when you wash dishes or rinse off veggies, you don’t splash onto that cute little table. You could then put some upper cupboards on that wall…probably lose that window…and eliminate those too small windows under the existing uppers. Maybe even get a full sized fridge. You’d have to adjust how the stairs were installed but those need to change, too. I will say that the design of the stairs is beautiful. I love that great curve! But if I have to have stairs, I’d really like some that have storage underneath. Not seeing the floor plan and where all the doors and windows are with a better perspective than provided by the photos, I can’t say how I would accomplish all of that. For me…again, personally, I wouldn’t need that loft so eliminating it would make the kitchen feel bigger, allow for taller upper cupboards and eliminate the need for the stairs altogether. I’m older and don’t have kids at home so families with children might appreciate that loft more than me. I would also eliminate those small green tiles in the shower. They are a nice color but with that really wonderful rock wall, it is just too busy and the modern looking green stripe detracts from the homey semi-rustic feel of the rocks. I can understand someone wanting to add variety and a splash of color but in this case, it just doesn’t work for me. But isn’t the really fantastic part of tiny homes the fact that they are easily customized? We can each have colors, materials and floor plans that suit our individual needs. Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention how I love the 10′ width! What a difference it makes in how spacious it feels. Very livable without feeling cramped. And it is still easily moved if you want to change locations. Wonderful and kudos to the designers. I hope you can see my suggestions as food for thought rather than criticism.
