Wow I love everything about this house, all the special builds too besides all the appliances. That incinolet toilet is $1800 at best. Love all the kitty features too ! Thanks for sharing Alex !

Unbelievable how they slap those big price tags on these little houses..! No shame what so ever…

So Zachary… you’d work for peanuts would you?

Doesn’t take much looking to see that there is some serious dinero in appliances… especially the incinolet toilet. Kitchen benchtop isn’t cheap laminate. Bathtub? Washer/Dryer? Kitchen sink. Toilet wash hand basin.

Not to mention… it is “380 sq ft” That would be one of the largest tiny homes around. Most top out at around 200 – 240 sq ft.

And anyway, you don’t have to buy it do you?

I thought the loft space wasn’t counted in the sq ft? This is more like a 250 sq ft house with two lofts, not a 380 sq ft house.

I don’t agree that the price is slap-up mark-up. I definitely see $70K worth of materials and labor in this particular house. But that’s not really the point. I thought THOWs were about shedding the trappings of consumerism and living mortgage-free. And yet, here is everyone cooing over granite countertops and stainless steel appliances and claw-foot tubs, as if this were Toll Brothers. What I see is a McTinyMansion with no land to park on or utilities to hook into. At least to me, at this price point other options are a better value.

Amen…! My point exactly … I think anyone spending that kind of money on a tiny house to be unconscionable, with out thought to today’s economy what so ever…! We live in a time when buying a house we must take in account of the economy at large, we must take in account of over spending… To go off willy-nilly and agreeing to house prices such as this we are agreeing to the demise of the future of our children… To just rubber stamp these high prices we are saying to the builders we don’t care how much your asking for these houses, and it is OK to mark up and over price… We need to send a message we want fare cost build practices to be upheld and we will no longer pay astronomical fees… Because if we don’t, why bother buying tiny houses at all just buy a regular home and add the things you want and the pricing won’t be far from what they are now asking and you don’t have to worry about lofting and down sizing…

Oxide, there is not ‘ONE’ point about tiny houses. Everyone has their own reasons. Some people want all the luxury they can get, and still be able to tow it from place to place. Others want the same luxury and simply be able to pay it off in their lifetime ($70,000 not $200,000). — If you thought tiny houses were “about shedding the trappings of consumerism and living mortgage-free”, either you are very new to following tiny houses, or you are not paying attention.

Dear Zachery Mohrmann, There are a lot of unconscionable things in the world, and paying what one CHOOSES to pay for a top of the line tiny house is NOT one of them. Why would your word be the end all decision of what anyone ‘should’ pay for anything? Would you like also to tell me what color shirts to buy? Would you like me to come and tell you that you paid too much for your car simply because I think cars should be cheaper? Your outrage is misplaced and melodramatic. I will tell you what I think is unconscionable. The outrageous price of sports tickets. Football games and basketball games, all so we can pay millions of dollars a year to our sports figures, while paying nothing to our teachers. THAT’S where we are “agreeing to the demise of the future of our children.” But hey, that’s MY opinion. — THIS is a lovely home, made with top of the line products, custom designed for the people who will live in it. It’s not your house. It’s not your checkbook. They don’t need your approval to live their lives the way they choose.

Well I am flattered that you would consult me on your wardrobe, and find me at such a high authority that you would speculate your hard earned on my so could say so.. But yes I to find the cost of automobiles to be far to excessive as well as the sporting events and their players, who are some times just over pampered cowards who hide behind false bravado, and a high price tag … Which the ignorant feel demands respect because they are so highly paid… And by the way the whole game there surrounds around you filling those seats in order to be able to pay them the exuberant wages because the need to pay for these over priced stadiums in which you pay for the seating and so on…! But the whole thing surrounds you, because with out you they are nothing so if you are going to be paying these over prices, yes you should command the out come of your hard earned money, and be considerate of your fellow man’s or woman’s hard earned as well….! And what I believe I was saying in my past comments if you read all of them… But if you still want a consult on your wardrobe, I believe you should chose a red shirt because you are like a bull just in a rage to charge me….! Have a lovely day, and thank you for your input….

Very nice indeed. Love the kitchen & bathtub. Although the kitchen could have been made smaller, but then maybe some people prefer a bigger kitchen area than having a sitting room. I found it pricey too, but like Alex said, nothing comes cheap. So to each his/or her own. I still like how it’s made. That’s me!

    Hi Folks,

I like the kitchen best of all. I basically designed the same thing for my daughters college home. If someone has a design, I could use a design to convert a 6′ couch into a work desk, bed. I also designed a alternate step staircase to two jointing lofts. Heatarlator fireplace, she likes her fire, encased with light weight man made stone hearth, etc.

As to the price? Things in small packages cost more. Bricks and sticks in conventional house is around $70.00 – $120.00SF. Tiny, try $120.00 – $175.00SF and this is just for the basics one step up. Hip roofs with shed dormers, foam insulation, tanks, tankless hot water heaters which I am using with floor heat in the THOW, combo washer dryer, ouch!

To the folks that can build once and right they save money, near a third. The rest need to pay the extra third for the experienced workforce. Then add the upgrades. So where do you find a heating contractor who can use a tankless hot water heater for a hydronic radiant floor system in the South?

    Robert

Not fond of the exterior, but the interior layout is nice, counter space is ample, bathroom storage is good and the loft looks roomy. If it were
my home, I would rather have open shelving versus the square box line of upper cabinets.

A bit too uptown for me but I’m sure there are a lot of people who can appreciate this one. I do wish people would get over the notion that tiny houses mean only a way to live/build cheaper/simpler etc. It’s a spectrum with room for all kinds of builds, budgets and levels of comfort and clutter. I personally prefer the lower end (not like I have a lot of choice financially!) but no reason why a person couldn’t use the same layout or basic design as any of the fancier models they like and just use more budget-friendly materials. The existence of these expensive places doesn’t necessarily mean the lower budget ones don’t exist. Plenty of choices for all.

I to have to be honest I thought they were asking $170,000.00 and not $70,000.00… That’s because I should be wearing my dam glasses… So I do apologize for that… But there are fools out there who would dare to ask 85, 90, and over $100,000.00 for these houses and I have seen them list on here….!

I’m a little annoyed that there are no pics if the middle section or the lofts but oh well. Nice tiffany style lamps though

Excellent kitchen, usable, against an end wall. Then that counter continues, melds into a clothes folding space above the clothes washer. Somebody was thinking on this one.

Like the kitchen, but upper cabinets could be a couple inches taller. Wasted space. And what’s with the crappy looking cabinet things in the bathroom? Yuck. Full size fridge instead of the junk space underneath and how do you get to the loft?

Such a lovely looking interior. Very pretty details all around. Nice to see a real kitchen w/lots of counters. They’ve made a great use of space. But… ugly-to-me granite counters. Wood counters are way more beautiful (according to my personal esthetics) & much less expensive. I would prefer a shower w/one of those luxurious rain-type shower heads instead of a tub. I thought they should have gone with those stairs-that-are-also-drawers set ups instead of that ladder.

For the price they’re asking for that unit one can buy a house w/land. I myself own an entire actual house (little) (621 sq. feet), mortgage free, w/all city amenities, w/almost an acre of land, valued at around $55,000.

    Prices are relative.

Where I live, $55K won’t get you a house with land; it’ll maybe get you a foreclosure in a questionable neighborhood, and not that great a house, either. If median home prices in one’s neck of the woods (or urban jungle) are $175,000 or more, $70,000 -is- a bargain.

Oh, and I think that “junk space” under the fridge is hiding a cat box or some kind of pet-oriented space, judging from the little grate down there.

    Love the tub though.

This is super nice. Wish I could see the loft above the kitchen.
