Do not like very dark wood in small spaces. It gives the illusion of the room being much smaller than it is.
Not really, when it comes to design, spaces generally look better when you have contrasting colors. For example, using Dark colors as a contrast reads as receding from the viewer, so something like an accent wall visually enlarges the space (and sets up a nice contrast that can make the rest of the space seem brighter by comparison)… It’s more about how the colors are used rather than what colors are there…
But the photo make it look much darker than it really is… They should have avoided having the lights in the shot as the camera tries to compensate and the whole image gets darker as a result.
