Over priced. $88K for an RV. Save a bit more and build on a foundation and have a deed instead of a title.

jb, not everyone can afford the cost of land and to build a house on it. These tiny homes serve as providing homes for people/families who would otherwise not be able to own, put down roots. These are not anything like RV’s. They/this one in particular, uses high end finishes, appliances, decor etc. I’ve owned all kinds of houses in my lifetime, and am seriously considering going tiny here in BC Canada. Just makes sense to conserve energy, money, use less things/space, be free. And they are stunning with beautiful finishes. No brainer in this day and age of excess.

I’ve explained before you shouldn’t confuse a Tiny House with an RV, they’re not the same thing.

But a reality check on price is everything can range from low end to high end that effects build quality, performance, included features, livability, quality of life, durability, and longevity.

When they’re all maxed out prices can run into the millions… Houses, RV’s, Tiny Houses, Boats, Cars, etc. can all run into the millions on the high end. Like the difference between a tug boat vs a luxury yacht, there can be a world of difference in what you actually get that you shouldn’t just assume because of any one factor.

Besides, apples to apples high end construction on a foundation will cost more because you’re not just paying for materials when building a house on a foundation but permits, impact fees, and up to hundreds of other fees and additional things that can be required…

Anything custom built will also be using more costly materials and can be done with up to multiple times more labor. So will cost significantly more than something with a standard design and streamlined construction, especially something that can be mass produced can be a fraction of the cost of something custom built…

But custom build gives people the most control and range of options for what they end up with and mass productions gives the least…

Everything has trade offs, understanding what they are is key to knowing what you’re actually paying for and is the only way to make valid comparisons…

About $275 a square foot if the trailer is 10 feet wide. Looks more like 8. The colors are bright the tile and high end appliances have value. I tend to like the fifth wheel trailers better. Seems like a decent build closet space is even provided. Toss on a deck and I could see my self living here.

Just something to consider but it should be pointed out that cost per square foot is not an accurate way to measure costs, for example it depends what space is counted as part of the living space. If the loft had over 5 feet of headroom then it would be counted as part of the living space and that would lower the average for the cost per square foot and if the loft was an actual second floor then it would significantly reduce that number…

But the real problem is it also doesn’t accurately factor what’s included, it doesn’t factor how the house performs, it doesn’t tell you how well or badly the house is built, etc… It’s mainly only giving an average based only on total cost divided by countable living space but averages can be misleading, like big houses have lots of empty spaces like hallways, etc. that lower the average even if it cost far more in total. While tiny houses do not and that raises their average.

Plus any additional costs, like land development, etc. is not counted but can effect the total cost of the property. Along with not factoring cost of ownership and any long term costs. Mind, with tiny houses much of that is optional and most of it will cost less but is automatically included with traditional houses on foundations and can significantly increase actual costs.

So there really needs to be a better way to compare costs that actually tells people what the price represents, which is one of many things that has to change with how the housing market works…

Way over Priced. For that amount of money I can buy a three bedroom two bath home with land. Tiny homes are supposed to be affordable. But now everyone is jumping on the band wagon and charging way to much. Jay Shaffer built tiny homes you could afford. It is a shame that they have ruined the tiny house concept.

I just love this one! I would add maybe 5 feet to have more space in the living area and therefore have room for maybe a small desk/table for feeding more than two people that the bar seats only. I also love the high end finishes, and really like how the loft is high enough that you could work up there at a desk and not feel too cramped. Really well designed – bravo for all the closets in the bedroom too! I find a lot of these do not supply enough closet space for clothes/shoes.
