Great use of space, but stepping OVER after the top step to get to the loft would definitely concern me — closet needs to be moved back enough to make it safe! Either that, or I totally missed something!

Nancy, I think the reason that the floor above the closet is lower is so one can stand along that edge of the loft making that edge of the bed a standard height for sitting or crawling into. Rather clever detail when the space is less than 2 full stories.

Sorry-meant to hit reply. Nancy-the closet is on the first floor not part of the loft?

Nancy the lighting on the white is deceptive to the eye. The top step is level with the top of the closet – the curtain is hung higher than the shelving underneath – that gives a safe walkway across the sleeping area. A handrail would give a sense of security to the stairs. Otherwise I like this layout a lot.

Photos of the bathroom would be good. A rail on the stairs to the sleeping loft and at the edge if the sleeping loft would be vital, or there would be a trip to the hospital and an explain action about ‘just stepping back to make the bed and I fell off!’ Also, where is the step ladder kept to reach the top kitchen cabinets, or is the person living in the flat 7 feet tall! I need a step stool to reach standard kitchen wall cabinets, as I am only 5 foot 1 and a bit tall!
Having said that, some good design features, such as the storage stairs, and it doesn’t feel claustrophobic, which is quite am achievement for a small apartment. Though at 312 sq.ft. is it really Micro? The ceilings look very high, so there is plenty of light and there is probably reasonable headroom in the sleeping loft.

I love all the storage this micro house has to offer!! I love the floors. I have to agree with some of the other comments. I would need some type of step stool or ladder to reach the top of the cabinets. I’m not short, I’m five-eight but I know I could never reach the top. In order to feel safe I also would have a railing along my stairs also some type of rail going across the loft area for safety. But other than that micro house is really designed very nice.
