I love this layout, I’m just not a huge fan of the reclaimed wood look. Other than the wood everything else is perfect for a micro-home!

Please make sure you include the location of the homes, especially when it’s for sale. The cost of transportation is a huge factor when considering buying a tiny home.

I like this man’s philosophy on tiny house living.
For me the length would have to be a minimum of 20′ and with stairs.
What he has accomplished in this package is admirable.

Wow!!!!! This is one of the most adorable tiny house ever!!! Love it! 🙂

Lovin it, I think it encompasses the whole of the “tiny” philosophy. By the pics looks airy! granted not for everyone, but what is! right? Now I think a slight mod, would be to bring the bottom wood over the fender slightly to allow better water shed, but I don’t know the prep on it, reclaimed wood is a little tougher to keep at a certain look but I’m sure the annual water sealing works fine too…thinking ahead etc..any opinions from actual experience?

I LOVE THIS! JUST MY STYLE. ONLY THING I WOULD DO IS MAKE IT A LITTLE LONGER FOR A LITTLE LARGER LIVING ROOM AREA AND POSSIBLE STAIRS TO THE LARGE LOFT AS I DO NOT DO LADDERS. GOOD JOB, RANDY! WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

    • keepyourpower
      May 29, 2017, 3:37 am

Morristown, TN. He has different ways you can pay. Let them do all the work, and pay full price. Come to his building, and help build, and can get up to $10k off, of the total price.

He is very good person. He is number one on my list, to build my tiny home. Gotta win the money first, or wait, and save it.

I even roll out of my regular bed in my regular home. If an 18″ drop is a really rude way to wake up, I can’t imagine what it’s like to drop 7′! Still – wouldn’t be hard to add a few railings.

Great use of reclaimed products. Lots of character for such a small space. I would need a 2 burner stove top, maybe hang the microwave. BUT…would have to come up with something other than a ladder for the sleeping loft.

  • Marsha Cowan
    May 27, 2015, 1:07 pm

Beautiful tiny house, exterior and interior. I love the reclaimed wood, and the way it is used here is just right. Amazing layout, and two lofts are great. The decorating is really pretty, and the bathroom is lovely. I love this tiny house!

    May 27, 2015, 2:02 pm

Simple, functional, and beautiful. This covers all the bases without undue extravagance. I see (and like) a lot of tiny homes that attempt to put all the conveniences and possessions of a large home into a small space. Then people wonder why they cost so much. I’m not sure I would want to go quite this simple, but it would certainly be livable at a reasonable price. Nice getting back to the basics in a lovely way. I like the combination bathroom/closet which addresses one of the major shortcomings I see in many much fancier tiny homes. I think I could pare down to that much space. Good job.

  • CathyAnn
    May 27, 2015, 3:28 pm

This is a well thought out tiny home. It certainly is livable if one is willing to pare down on “things”. That’s part of what tiny home living means to me.

I really appreciate the white walls and ceiling which makes the space light and airy. The ladder looks substantial. The only thing I would add is a guard rail on the lofts for safety with a very sturdy pole between loft floor/edge and ceiling which one could grab when transitioning to and from the loft and ladder.

I also like the bathroom with its window, shelving and rod on which to hang clothes.

I have never really understood why, in so many tiny homes, people insist on a sink in the bathroom when the kitchen sink is so close. Not having a sink in there sure gives the room more space.

I could go on and on about what all I like, such as all of the windows….

    • Comet
      May 30, 2015, 2:06 pm

There have been a LOT of discussions on other posts where the builders DID put just one sink (in easy reach) in the kitchen–people are violently on one side of this or the other! If I remember right there is the “Ick!” factor of going between the bathroom and the kitchen; the notion that you can’t use the klitchen sink for anything ELSE if you use it for hand washing, the idea that you would be touching the door or door knobs/light switches/or counter etc on your way the two steps TO the kitchen—I remember one with a wooden wine cask made into a shower base that had one sink and there were TONS of comments on both sides. And one where the French designer–who I think was also the owner–of the TINY space put in a lovely kitchen with a full sink but “wasted” a huge amount of space then adding a DIFFERENT sink –within INCHES–of that for the bathroom–but–it was not even IN the bathroom area! Now–that one was a city apartment/condo so there might have been rules on that.

If you did not use two seperate sinks you could always use some sort of a hand wipe after using the toilet but before exiting; there are lots of “recipes” for using re-cycled cloth for this and storing them. Pinterest is your friend! If you were using some small travel trailers or a “pop-up” with a bucket toilet for middle of the night or rainy day use–what WOULD you use? They only HAVE one sink!

      • CathyAnn
        May 30, 2015, 2:21 pm

Good points, Comet. I especially like the one about using recycled cloth. There are great recipes for cleaning without going the toxic chemical route, like using mixtures of hydrogen peroxide, white vinegar and Dr. Bronner’s Liquid Castile Soap. Like you said, there are lots of recipes out there.

    May 27, 2015, 5:28 pm

I do have one concern, though it may be small. The barn wood sliding door may have dead poison ivy crawling up it, those small vines aren’t just pretty decoration. In some cases the poison ivy can still infect you with its evil and you will be very sorry. Just a heads up!

    • Steve in Micco
      May 28, 2017, 6:58 pm

James, you are not at all understating the effects of poison ivy. Had killed some vines growing up and dead oak tree more a year back. Two months ago I moved the 3′ length logs cut from that tree. Next day the rash started in earnest.

BTW…best product to fight poison ivy? Easily it would be IVAREST from Wal-Mart.

      • Natalie C. McKee

I just walk in the vicinity of poison ivy and get it! Definitely something to keep in mind.

It says “Off Grid” but doesn’t give the particulars. . . does it run off solar panels? what else about it makes it “off-grid” just curious as I am looking for an RV/TH to put on my property which has NO utilities or water so this would be important info for me.

    • Stacie
      July 22, 2015, 10:05 am

My parents live in Morristown, TN and I sent them out there yesterday. The builder says he adds a solar panel to make it off grid. However, it will only run the fridge, not enough for A/C, too. I’m sure you can add more panels or use the system where you set them to take best advantage of the sun. That’s my plan. Mom said they were the nicest people and are love what they do.

I second (or third!) those who would add railings to those lofts — that’d be a long drop if you or your kid happened to roll out of bed in the middle of the night!

But otherwise, a simple yet efficient home for the size and price, and they’ve positively nailed the rustic Americana look. Extra kudos for re-use of local materials, too. The planter boxes are a nice touch – I’d grow herbs in them, but that’s just ’cause I’d likely be allergic to all those flowers!

I also wholeheartedly agree with their take on tiny living – I wouldn’t want full-size appliances in a full-size kitchen and luxury materials everywhere either. Give me two burners, a microwave, a fridge small enough to keep me honest, and I’m good to go.

    May 28, 2015, 12:27 pm

This is in my opinion a perfect layout. I just found the layout for my future allotment house :-).
I would want the interior lighter, but I am a Scandinavian, light is a compulsory obsession here.

(And I would also add safety rails. Even though I am 35 yo I still haven’t learned not to fall out of bed. Ouch, some drop).

  • Stine L. Larsen
    May 28, 2015, 12:27 pm

By the way Alex: I often come across adds for allotment house for sale, or interior design magazine articles about ones (I am mad about allotment gardens and houses). Those houses are often very small. People often live in them in the warmer period of the year.
Would you be interested in links to such ones?

    May 29, 2015, 3:55 am

I love the dormer went the entire length of the TH. I don’t like small useless dormers for lofts that feel closed in. I would want the door on the correct side of the TH, which is the passenger side of the tow vehicle. There is a reason for the door to be on the opposite side of this one. One if you decide to live or stop in an R/V park, your door will be on the wrong side. Two when you are driving down the road even if only from the build site to the setup site, if the door isn’t absolutely securely closed, it could open unexpectedly and cause harm to other drivers that are passing on the left of the TH.

I agree that things in a tiny home should be tiny. I’ve seen people try to put full size appliances in a tiny home and it just looks bad. And it takes up too much space. Tiny homes should have tiny appliances. Except for the reclaimed wood, I love this house! Great layout.

  • Vitrvarg
    May 30, 2015, 12:27 pm

I love the look of this, but for this amount of money I would expect something better than sleeping lofts, especially over the kitchen sink. Try thinking of a Murphy bed or a platform you can raise up to the ceiling and out of the way. Americans think of huge clumsy mattresses, how about storage for futons instead?

  • Karen
    May 30, 2015, 1:48 pm

Thank you, thank you, thank you for a tiny house with a painted interior, tons of charm, and a well thought out plan. It’s so nice to see someone putting in details that set the house apart from all the rest. I would actually want to live in this one! A great deck outside and what a great place. Randy deserves a huge round of applause – and isn’t it nice to see some actual ARTWORK ON THE WALLS? Thanks again….I could tell he had so much fun building this. And how about showing us the other structure that was in the video background?

Adorable home. I love the wood. What is used to preserve it inside and out? Love that you left the “plants” on the door to the bath. Very innovative and beautiful. I would like this in a 30′ home with high ceilings, no lofts and a bedroom on either end with french doors from the livingroom out to a large deck/yard filled with trees and flowers as well as garden. Love it!

  • Sandy Larson
    May 30, 2015, 4:31 pm

Genius design and absolutely adorable! I love everything you did from taking extra care on the design of the exterior to opting for open shelving inside. I so agree with you about living tiny. It defeats the purpose if you add full size appliances. I have seen tiny houses built that had horrendous price tags, the same or more than full size homes! What’s the point?! It feels like robbery to me so thank you for keeping costs down! Great job! Actually where is it? I’d like to talk turkey…
    Sincerely,
    Sandy Larson

I like this tiny house. I usually don’t like lofts for sleeping, but these are inviting – light & bright. I like the reclaimed wood; it is a nice contrast to the white, and the white makes a tiny house open up. For me – stairs, though I realize that would be difficult in this space. Well done!

  • Carrie Collins

I am wondering about the actual trailer underneath it looks like a older travel trailer style. Was it reenforced in any way prior to the build? I have one ready to use to build on but I am not sure if I should invest the materials to build one the older lighter built trailer. Does any one have comment or suggestions?

    • Doug

The concept is nice. But a LOT of that wood looks like it has rot, and is not structurally sound. In fact it looks like it was picked up from the ground, or a landfill or dump, rather than actually reclaimed. There IS a difference between simply reused and reclaimed.

Thank you for pointing out that tiny homes need appropriately sized appliances. Uncouth people who want to part giant-sized appliances in a tiny home are just not tiny house people in my opinion.

  • May 30, 2016, 1:51 pm

Beautiful running strong coherent artistic objectively in every corner of the house inside and out. Genial type of treated wood, antique and colors of vintage. The objects distributed in a balanced and original in form, are complemented by emphasizing the fascination. Absolutely High Rating and Artistic Level

My oh my this is an awesome tiny! Loved everything, even tho I don’t particularly like reclaimed wood this was done so well, maybe I would white wash them, is that against the rules ?lol
I was very happy to see so many pictures and then the video was done so well, and the staging was excellent! The builder seemed like he wasn’t out to make a fortune but get more of us in a “tiny” which was very endearing to me. Thanks guys for this one. I WANT it. Wonder if my honey would get it for me for my birthday, Christmas, anniversary……..?

I think that this is one of the finest tiny houses on the market. It has so much character at every turn. I love everything about it, and if
I had $20,000 in hand right now, I would be moving it to my RV court today. Everything about this tiny house is well thought out and well built. It is really a steal! Would you trade for a tiny red bus camper in great shape? Lol!
