The event was organized by Darin Zaruba and his team at EcoCabins who are based out of Colorado Springs. In 2016, the event will not be free but the entrance fee is said to be very reasonable (around $8/day or $25 for the entire weekend). Susan, I don’t know where you live, but once you’re at the Jamboree, the cost is minimal. $25 for a 3 day event?! And you get to see many models and houses and add to your list of ideas. The people you meet there will be so interesting and supportive. I guess you can tell I went in 2015 all 3 days and will gladly go again.

      SusieQ,

There are a number of RV sites and campgrounds in the area, but they are not ‘near’. Though not really that far either. Yous should go online & find one and reserve a space.

Yes, my husband and I are going to make a vacation of it. We missed 2015 sadly, but look forward to seeing what the tiny house community can bring together for a fantastic weekend. I’d really like to see the ESCAPE Traveler XL there — any chance?

I am planning on attending! I’m almost finished with my tiny house in Louisville, KY. My boyfriend and I started building back in April, but as many of you know it can be a long process, especially first time builders. I was planning on attending a Tiny house event in Asheville, but I can’t afford the ticket price. I also think it’s more workshops, which I know I’d learn a lot, but I can’t justify spending that much after the build. I’m very excited for this event though!

Amy Wheatly said, “I can’t afford the ticket price.”. It’s tragically ironic that any such event supposedly meant to inspire people to live smaller and more affordablely has been priced out of range for the very people it pretends to benefit. Disgusting. After reading this I’ve decided against attending the 2016 “jamboree” in Colorado Springs, and I live in Denver. Instead, I’ll just go visit the TH builders who’ve established a physical location. I’m sure they’ll let me look at their products for free. To those who argue, “It’s just capitalism.” I say, there’s capitalism and then there’s greed and exploitation of an otherwise sound concept. I’ll spend my money on a hands-on workshop instead and support the efforts of those who are still actually contributing something to the TH spirt and concept besides setting up a sideshow and pocketing your money so you can ‘look’ at tiny houses. Travel to the TH communities where THs have been built for the homeless and pay THEM a little something to look at their houses. I still plan to downsize but have begun to support the TH “movement” less and less proportional to the increasing exploitation of the thing.
Amy, congratulations to you and your boyfriend on the (by now) completion of your TH! I’m truly happy for you. You (and others) continue to prove that this can be done without unjustly enriching the parasitic snake oil salesmen who materialize when they smell an easy buck.

Elle, I think you are clueless about the expenses involved in setting up any event. The space must be rented, advertising paid for, security rented, bathrooms set up, etc.; they would not have been able to set up a second event without some funding. I will be living in my van by that time, and I still think that $25 for a 3-day event is a minimal expense. Not only are there houses to see, parts to learn about, and people to meet, but 3 days worth of information sessions. I hope you will rethink your stance and go – it is an amazing time and you can learn a lot while you’re there.

I got my ticket beginning of march. So excited!!! I hope I will actually be able to get there, live in Michigan.

I enjoyed the Tiny House Jamboree last year and can’t wait until the one this year. Just in my opinion it needs to be at a place somewhere bigger then where it was at last year. Somewhere that has plenty of spaces to park. One thing I didn’t like last year was the long lines to see inside each tiny house, so better plans for not having long lines is a good idea… Changing into living in a tiny house is on my list for sure just dunno when I’ll be able to start building it..
