Small Space Furniture #19 with Murphy Beds & Desks

Small space furniture helps you create more storage with the same square footage thanks to smart design.

That’s why I went to visit my local Murphy Bed Center.

Also known as the More Space Place.

Surprisingly I hardly ever see many people utilizing Murphy beds in small spaces.

Maybe it’s because of the price, I don’t know.

But either way they seem to be a great solution for your tiny or small house.

Thanks to multipurpose furniture like this you’re able to…

  • Hide your bed up against the wall when you’re not using it
  • Bring down a desk that was otherwise hidden
  • Turn your living room into a guest bedroom

The possibilities can be endless. So here’s what I found while I was there.

I just came across this. I am thinking about building Dan Louche’s new design and have been reading about appliances. It is one unit that has storage, sink, fridge, and stove top.

Wanted to share but wasn’t quite sure how to contact you. Have you came across anyone using an incinerating toilet in their tiny house?

Thanks Kyle! That sink+storage+fridge+stove top combo is neat.

Yes I’ve seen an incinerating toilet in one of them once but I can’t remember where. In this case it seemed like it took up a lot of room though.

Keep us updated on your progress please!

I could see myself using many of the configurations depending upon my final TH layout; I just couldn’t see myself paying the expensive prices.

I’d like to build one that had a cot-width mattress like I used to have in my Airstream that I lost to fire. Those mattresses were THE right size.

Are there any affordable plans available (I haven’t looked yet) or maybe kits or just hardware kits with plans?

Good question.. There are some kits out there for murphy beds that I’ve seen along with plans on how to build them. I wonder if you’d like these?? Here are some links where you can find them:

Thanks for the great starting places (and maybe even ending places).
