cell-phone-charging-boots

One of our modern problems when it comes to going off the grid is power because we all still want to be connected with our cell phones.  Esepcially for those of us with iphones.  So Orange has invented thermoelectric boots to power your phone while walking, hiking, or dancing.  All from the heat generated by your feet.

tiny-trucks-01

David (thanks!) sent me this link to a dealer in Louisiana who deals with miniature trucks and vans.  They’re much smaller than what we’re used to here in the U.S. and are much better with gas mileage.  I can see how trucks like these will gain popularity due to their fuel efficiency and usefulness.

I’m not sure what to think of this.

It’s a mobile.

Ride-able.

Solar-powered bush car.

No windows to rely on just cameras and monitors.

Is there any ventilation in there??

The total cost to construct this was $3,275 in 2005. Prices have gone up since.

bicycle-side-car

Have you ever thought of having a sidecar for your bicycle the way some motorcycles sport them?

I never had until I ran into this on Twitter (follow me!).

Pretty interesting, huh? I think it would work well for fun, kids, and/or storage/utility.

If you really like the idea, good news because the creator (Steve) shows you how he built it over at his website. See the links at the bottom of this article.

The best part is Steve will show you how he built it over at his website, check it out! Part 1 (Design) Part 2

our-new-500-sq-ft-apartment

I wanted to show you guys my new 500 square foot apartment that we just moved into. We were going to be on a road trip this summer but decided to move back into here instead.

The best part about the apartment is it’s 3 blocks away from the beach and almost everything is within walking distance. There are plenty of great people around the area too.

The Roly West Tiny Cabin in Maine

Derek Diedricksen is back with an unplanned episode of Tiny Yellow House. He shot this during his search for a tiny island in Maine. In this video, you’ll get a tour of a cabin that was built in the earlier 1960s. You’ll even get to go inside and listen to the man who built it!

The lot was bought for $2,500 and the house was built for another $2,500. The cabin is 20 x 40 with the last 10 feet being bedrooms. They also have a porch that faces the water. Beautiful scenery here throughout. You will also see a recently built work shed on the property. Enjoy the video and thanks, Derek!
