This 1980 Bristol Double Decker Bus For Sale is a guest post by Ron Collins

My home is in Florida where I winter at, and I live in the Netherlands in summer….

In my travels I have purchased a 1980 Bristol – VR Double Decker Bus. Model ECW 24 34 6 Series 2 ENGINE: Gardner 6LXB CONFIGURATION: H43/31F.

The #007 Double Decker Bus is located in the Netherlands and can be “driven to Belgium or Amsterdam” depending on what transport ships are available to ship to certain ports in the USA.

* I have one quote to ship from Netherlands to USA Jacksonville, Florida (Jax Port) at $7,500.00. There are other considerations such as tax etc through customs, that the Buyer is responsible for.

I had great hopes to changing it into a lounge, or “summer home” here….but unfortunately my health causes me to sell this Collectable – Rare London-built bus.

In the states they sell if you can find them in this condition for $24-38k Remnants of the same bus in UK sell for 4-6L

This bus in particular has been inspected yearly (Netherlands) which they are VERY STRICT….and has continually been maintained by a tour company that used this for private or special rentals. It runs drives just as one would expect. Double Decker Bus #007 is all original interior, exterior.

I was asking $13,500.00 US Dollars REDUCED TO>>>>>>>$10,775.00

Maintenance records/copies would be included, as well as any documents needed to ship, dock delivery to either Belgium or Amsterdam for shipment to the USA. **I have a current quote from a shipper for $6800.00 to Jacksonville Florida (JAXPORT) that I have utilized previously-great to work with!

Use your creative abilities……a lodge, cafe, restaurant, coffee shop, TINY HOUSE! * I do believe if you part out the motor/transmission and axles you could almost get back a large part of your investment if you plan to place this on a foundation.

Oh my gosh! I have been wanting a double decker bus for years to convert into a rolling tiny home on wheels that I could use to travel all over the U.S., and your price is very reasonable, but unfortunately I am dirt poor with only three cents (seriously) in my account. I wish you all the best of luck in finding a buyer. I envy the future owner of this awesome bus!

The foreseeable problem in the US is righthand drive

No different from driving a mail truck, Jerry. You just line up with the fog line instead of the stripes in the middle of the road. I was surprised at how quickly I acclimated to that driving position.

Wish I could buy it for you, Sally . . .

Karen, that is so sweet of you to say that! I’m very touched by your thoughtfulness. I still want this DD but the price (including shipping from the Netherlands) is still out of my reach 🙁 It would be put to great use, not just for living per se, but traveling all over the US from shelter to shelter to photograph pitbulls that are available for adoption as part of my Score 7 for Bullies Budweiser Super Bowl campaign, the goal of which is to get Budweiser to feature one of these amazing dogs in a future Super Bowl commercial. I can dream…….

This bus is a little newer than the one’s I’m about to mention, but does anyone else have the theme song to “On the Buses” going through their head right now?

No, but this song is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgF_pz9WRIU I think seeing Summer Holiday when I was a kid started me off on a life long interest in alternative housing.

Alice – Thanks for posting that link. That was nice. I think I saw that movie too, many years ago. That whole scene looks very familiar. I feel you’re a bit older than I, because the other thing this article reminded me of was a show I watched as a kid about jr. detectives that lived in one of those buses. It was like their clubhouse – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5qcDlpUICs

Wow. I would be seriously tempted if I had anywhere to park the thing (not to mention that driving something that big probably requires a CDL).

I currently live in a short bus, and I am so in love with it that I will probably always be in it. This bus would be perfect for a family! And I can tell you that I travel across Ameica twice a year in my bus and love that I don’t have to check into a motel, and that everything I own is with me when I need it, and I never have to pack and unpack! It’s great! If a family bought this and fixed it up and lived in it, it would change their outlook on life forever. I hope somone buys this soon. It is a great price for a great bus, especially if the engine and transmision and alternator are in good shape. I love it! Ask about the tires, too…

This would be perfect for a tea shop! General seating downstairs with private teas upstairs, using English China and serving traditional British tea fare. I wish I could do it…maybe if I were 10 or so years younger. Sigh. Good luck selling it and also with your health.

Alex, I think we need a design contest for this bus! We would need the pertinent dimensions on both floors, location and sizes of the stairs/drivers area, etc., but then the contest should be to design all the spaces without killing the bus. THIS WOULD BE SO AWESOME!

You are all amazing! I have been searching far and wide for double deckers for conversion but I’m dirt poor as well! I’m thinking of drafting up a sponsorship proposal to get some funding to get er done but I’m not sure how to go about getting my interior design idea from paper to an online/computer program. Anyone know a good program? I’m still quite green but very much dedicated to making this dream a reality!
