Inside you’ll find a built-in sofa with clothing storage, a shoe rack by the front door, wall mounted LCD TV, a built-in dresser/desk, and more.

A ladder leads you up to the sleeping loft. Underneath the loft is the bathroom and the kitchen. Please enjoy the casual video tour and re-share if you want to below. Thanks!

Your enthusiasm for your tiny house is so infectious! I couldn’t help but smile throughout your video – thank you!

What a great job of making everything fit your needs and I just love your colors and how bright and airy everything is with all of that natural light. Amazing that you fit so much into your footprint – love the amount of headroom. Good Luck to you all.

More than paint and fabric, I would be interested in the dimensions of the exterior house and interior spaces. Is the Wi-Fi something that can be mobile; as in on the road, or is this something you can only have in one place? Does this house fall within 13′ 6″ code because the husband is so tall? And what is the overall length of the house? How is the Black Water handled and is this home up on blocks? Did the husband build the whole house? If not, who was the builder? Where is the tour of the outside of the house? Thank you for the tour of the inside of the house 🙂

Oops! Sorry. Missed the pic of the house up on jacks and blocks. I see it now. 🙂

I was pleased that you shared this one Alex. It’s always great to see how people are using space to fit their needs and budget. I really like how this couple has set up this tiny house. Kudos to them for making it work with their little one.

unless i missed it along the way, i have not seen any comments about high winds. is this something that is just not talked about or is it a none issue? ty

Yes, there was an article some time back about a couple traveling across the country in the winter and how they encountered strong winds going across some of the lower western states. If I recall, they lowered their speed by ten miles an hour, then did not have any trouble to speak of. When I sold my first tiny house which had a shingled roof and old refurbished barn board lap siding, it traveled 65 miles an hour (not recommended, but the hired driver did it anyway) for an two hours to its new home. She reported that not a single shingle flew off, nor was their any damage at all to the exterior, so these tiny guys can take more wind than you think, and unless the roof is extremely high on one side, they can take most strong side winds, too. Hope this helps!

One more thing, there is a lot of weight down below the 36″ mark on the bottom, in fact, most of the weight, so that helps to balance things, too.

Absolutely beautiful! And so well designed! I am impressed by the thought that went into providing a space for everything, and the kitchen is amazing. It is nice to have an oven and a coffee maker. You guys did a really great job! Enjoy!

How do you know if someone is vegan? Don’t worry, they’ll tell you.

Gee, “Thanks!”, Bob! I spewed Earl Grey tea all over my keyboard after your Vegan comment. Bwhahahahahahaaaaa!!!

So true, so true! We rent out 2 of our bedrooms to Graduate students and even before you find out what Uni they attend or Sexual Preference they have, they’ll tell you “I’m Vegan!”

Oh, okay. “I’m Barbara. Nice to meet you, Vegan.” ~snort~

I love seeing real people living in a real house and sharing how they use the place. Love all the light and the colours. It looked like the kitchen counters were angled a bit for more surface towards the back. The only thing I don’t like is the end door makes a narrow hallway of open space with things lined up along all the long walls and one end. I like having the more open layout you get with a side entry and furniture or built-ins lined up on 3 walls but leaving a good bit of the long entry wall unencumbered. But this is their house and it works for them so it’s perfect.

      January 9, 2015, 8:15 pm

Did I miss something? All the other videos we saw didn’t have real people?

I prefer side entries because you get to put your sofa across the end and have more space in the “great room” so this house doesn’t quite do it for me. But it seems that the man is quite handy with carpentry.

Not all videos show places actively being lived in, or in their normal everyday state. I prefer the ones showing what daily life would look like rather than the magazine perfect version offered for sale or vacation rental. Maybe if some of the “magic sparkle” gets shaken out of the eyes it helps to avoid later disappointment. Doesn’t mean everything needs to be dull as ditch water, just need to keep a reasonable balance.

I liked the way the video was shot. Most of the tiny house videos out there are in staged spaces, this one seemed more real, and a lot more livable to me. But to each their own i guess.

      Hi Liz ,

Thank you for your tips, however I love my home the way it is, I’m sure your home isn’t always clean and as far as my 15 seconds of fame, I’ve already had that, you should try googling me and thus you shall see ;). I make my home work for me, maybe try to see the video for what it is meant to be and take your judgement elsewhere because there is enough negativity in this world . Lastly, you watched it so I hope you gained more in those however many minutes that you felt I shouldn’t have been talking. sorry that you didn’t have anything good to say! Have an outstanding day <3 indigoempress

Thanks for posting! Nice layout of the home, I especially liked the high ceiling and the layout of the kitchen. It was nice seeing how a family uses the space rather a single person.

They’re all great but overall this is the most enjoyable TH tour I’ve experienced. This is clearly a well thought out design. I like the variegated but complementary color scheme and the shower walls are a work of art. What stands out the most -in addition to your darling little boy, is your contagious enthusiasm and joy not only in the achievement of building your own home but in the TH lifestyle. This is clearly a combined labor of love and living proof that “less is more”.

In your closing remarks I love that you emphasize how very much you have and what you’ve gained by choosing the TH lifestyle rather than what you had to ‘give up’. This isn’t simply something you’ve all ‘done’, it’s what you are -the embodiment of everything the TH movement stands for. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us and doing it in such a genuinely warm, good natured and utterly joyless way. By the way, the color yellow stands for happiness, warmth, love and friendship -everything that your family appears to be.

What a fun tour! This house doesn’t feel cramped at all, with a creative use of space. Great colors, windows, and storage. Love the compact electronics setup, really nice bathroom, and roomy loft area.

Oh, and the stove, with 4 burners! Just because it’s a tiny house doesn’t mean you have to cramp your style!

The Young Family’s Tiny Gray House:
Your house is very nice, the colors were beautiful. I would like to know the outer dimensions also. In general, for safety I would want my sleeping loft to have some type of rails mostly across it and with a small child a gate that swings out at the top of the ladder at night might not be a bad idea. Since small children are so quick to move and I don’t know how much of a fall that would be. I saw his mattress is behind the adults but still it worries me. It’s the retired nurse in me!! I have seen rails on some of the lofts with only adults living there. Thank you!

Hello JC, I’m preparing for nursing school. I just received my admissions letter this past week! So , I definitely understand your safer concern , in fact, we actually have inside the opposite loft (yellow room), a safety gate which pills and locks. You can’t really tell in the video bc the loft is open. But it’s there. I’m a very light sleeper thanks to the military 😉 . I think adding rails is a very great addition. Thank you for watching!!

Hello Everyone, thank you all for viewing our very random and “poorly” shot video :). This was a fun day, we had finished lunch an he prior and my husband thought it was a great opportunity to make a video. While it’s not perfect , I hope that the reflection of my home, this day or any other is a reflection of who I am as a being. I read one comment alluding to my 15 seconds of fame, when in fact , we had no idea who would even be viewing this. I have many more claims to fame that are far more shareable than this , like being a mother, wife , and active duty sailor. Those are true claims to fame ;). Nonetheless, thanks for featuring us @tinyhousetalk! What a delight to see us here. We are absolutely thrilled for the amount of well wishes . Please inquire more about our home via email : [email protected]

Closing remarks: our home is unique to us, exclusively built by my husband and painted my me. We love it and the idea behind it. We are in our early twenties and are adapting to this way of life.
    -Love,
    Andrea, Jeremy & Tylin!

Great family. I finally pulled the trigger after researching all the information shared by this newsletter and placed an order with Montainer. I hope to build a small house less that 1000 sq ft. Now the hard word of clearing out 3800 sq ft of house begins.

  • January 10, 2015, 2:37 pm

First thing I saw inside is the pants match the wall color and matches the couch fabric. lol

The enthusiasm is great and it’s good to see your excitement to show off this house. Very vibrant all around. I’m 6’5″ myself so I like looking at these videos for ideas.

Adorable kid too. I have a 2yr old niece who’s quite active too.
    Thanks for sharing. 🙂

Really nice family and the son….TOO CUTE for words! Oh, how I miss that age; my 3 are all grown up. I laughed myself silly when he kept saying “Cuckoo! Cuckoo!” over and over again.

Regarding the “marble in the shower”; I believe it’s sealed Bluestone. We work with it all day long, every day, usually for flooring applications. Nice stuff.

Unless I missed it, did the couple say WHY them moved into a tiny home? Usually, that is a key part of the video: paying off school loans; saving for property or a slightly bigger home; eco-footprint, etc. I’d just like to hear why, especially with a small child that will only continue to grow and need more space, why they chose super tiny vs. small.

Love the house but LOVE the family even more. 😀

Dang It!!! WHY isn’t there an EDIT button?????

Andrea: I really appreciate the colour names and where you purchased them: Lowe’s. I like that “Island Blue”, I think you called it and we’re going to Lowe’s tomorrow. Thank you. <3

Hi, thanks for your comment! the color choice is Island Aqua by Behr . I am active duty Navy and am stationed different places quite a bit. Rather than paying money for the awfully expensive apartments or homes here in California, we opted for something that could definitely benefit us for PCS duty changes. Also, between the two of us, our parents have left us two homes , fairly spacious in GA and VA. As our son grows a tad bit more, we’ll ultimately relocate to the east coast!! Glad you guys enjoyed 🙂

You’re a PEACH, Andrea! Thanks for providing the correct brand name and colour; aqua has been my most cherished colour my entire life. I think a wall of that colour in our bathroom would be incredible. 😀

And I really appreciate knowing WHY you and your husband chose to do what you’ve done. It’s not so much nosiness, it’s trying to learn more about lifestyles different than my own. So many of the truly tiny home on wheels articles I’ve read have the tiny homes almost “glued in place”; yeah, I understand that wheels create a “loophole”. So, it’s nice to know that your tiny home TRULY will be mobile as you venture forth.

And please allow me to add: GOD BLESS YOU for being in the Navy and doing all the “heavy lifting” in protecting our freedoms in America!!! <3 You're risking it all for every one of us. (((Hugs Of Gratitude))) from me to you.

I’m in the military too. Just hit 17yrs and thought of going tiny too for the same reasons of all the moving around I’ve done over the years.
Could be a good way to travel in retirement too. 😉

Anyone who wonders what it would be like to raise a child in a tiny home, needs to see this. This adorable little boy is exactly like a two year old and he doesn’t seem to mind the small space at all!

It’s a wonderful, warm and inviting home. I loved it so much!!
