Work Van Transformed to Stealthy Housetruck with Tiny House Touch

This post contains affiliate links.

I thought you might enjoy this work van that has been converted into a house-truck.

Or I guess you can also call it a DIY motorhome.

But unlike most RVs, the interior is a lot like a tiny house or cabin.

And from the outside it doesn’t really look much like a house-truck or an RV so it can be stealthy if you wanted it to be.

I encourage you to see what it was like “before” and “after” the conversion below:

Before: When it was just a Work Van

Here it is After

In the photo above you can see the solar panels on top that power up the batteries to give them just about all of the power they need.

There’s a skylight, too, that lets in all the light they need while they’re stealthily parked in “city mode” with the blinds closed.

Pretty neat…only thing that gives me a bit of concern is the stove. Is that entirely safe?

Is there a bathroom, shower or toilet? How powerful are the solar panels and do they use batteries or does the power come directly from the panels?

Cute as a button, and very warm and cozy.. That stove seems to take up too much space , I would think one of those wall mounted marine heaters found in many boats would have been a better option..

Love it! Clever folks. Very 70s interior and homey, it looks like someone lives in it instead of being a model prototype. (Drag out the old pictures, John, if you were really “there,” nobody cleaned up nothing.) I love the smiles. Woodstove is cool, but how do you Stealth with it puffing away :-)? Space heater for me, NOT propane, too many horror stories. I just love this, am forwarding it to a friend who already has a Stealth vehicle and has quite a life. I will leave the “Gotta have a full bath” people to Cahow or Doris.

I’m with Sally. I would have loved to have this when I was disabled and homeless for a summer. I camped for three months in a tent, with a tiny car. Much anxiety that way. This looks like a mansion to someone with no place of their own to lie their head. Bravo! Especially if you did it from choice. I wish I had had the foresight.

Don’t need a full bath, but toilet of some description would be nice & I would think that it would help to maintain the Stealth aspect. you can put a small bath rug over a tarp or cheap vinyl shower curtain in front of the sink for a mini sponge bath of sorts if you want to freshen up below the pits area.

Stove is massive over capacity. I like underfloor propane tanks or other tank w small gravity furnace; no fan. Skylights are great but still needs more vision & ventilation.

I love it and specially the wood stove! What kind is it? I think a porta or compost potty and solar bag shower stored under the bed would be great if you don’t already have them. Is their AC? I am seriously hoping to redo a van or work truck to live in in a few yrs… my concern is solar not being enough to power AC. GOOD JOB!
