How she built her tiny house on wheels

I’d like to introduce you to Jen Alverson and her tiny house on wheels. She calls her new home the Ticklebelly Bungalow.

Over the past 5 years, Jen has been downsizing and planning her transition into this tiny house.

After attending a tiny house workshop and purchased plans, Jen felt confident it was time to start her tiny life in the Ticklebelly Bungalow.

Check out her tiny house on wheels build from beginning to (almost) end. Please enjoy the photos below.

Very good! And about my speed, but good work counts more than speed.

How wonderful to see how this home progressed! I had the pleasure of seeing it in person when Jen came to San Diego for Kyocera’s Earth Day Expo. Many creative ideas in her home, love the seashell drawer pulls and the use of braided rope for decoration. Well done!

Now I don’t feel so bad. I’ve been collecting stuff for this one for 2 years, but it is ready to go in July, and will be at lock up by August.

That last picture is the “before” downsizing. Looks good! How do you get into the loft? Ladder? (Eeks!) I am enough of a clumsy bumble that navigating a ladder looks a bit daunting to me, but overall this looks very nice. Great job downsizing!

Thanks! The stairs to the loft are on a pulley system. The first half of the stairs use the counter as a landing, then the little bookcase next to the counter are the first three stairs. I didn’t want a ladder either.

I must apologize for my fat finger moment…I accidently hit the “report comment” while I was trying to hit the “reply” button. Totally my fault! Sorry. ~Jen

K, so the top of the stairs land near the stove or the other side of the kitchen (looks like a refrigerator/freezer on that side).
And being a clumsy bumble myself, I fully understand (better than you think!) about the “report comment” episode :o)

Hey Varenikje, there are pics of the finished stairs on my blog, http://www.ticklebellybungalow.blogspot.com, posts from Dec 14 and 21, 2014. Seeing it would be much easier than me trying to explain. 🙂 ~Jen

I tried to email Alex, but my iPad says there is no email for the TinyHouseNewsletter.com or TinyHouseTalks.com! So I’m going to try here. Last week I watched a video of a woman who had built her own grid/ off grid home and decorated it in a colorful Moroccan style. she was interviewed by another young lady. The kitchen had a 8 ft. long countertop. The sitting area was the loft area and below it she had an office. The ceiling height was 5ft2ins in there which worked for her as she was 5ft. tall. The outdoor setting had other tiny homes. I save my newsletters, but don’t know if it accidentally was deleted. I didn’t note the newsletter number either. This style of home would be perfect for my daughter who is looking into a tiny home. Hope someone can help and Alex if you read this maybe you could share the Moroccan decorated home again. Really well planned and built.

I just spend half an hour reading Jen’s wonderful blog and I really think that you guys on TinyHouseTalk should do a follow-up about the finished house. It is lovely.
