People worried about tiny house kitchens have obviously never lived in an apartment. Most of them are laid out a lot better and a ton more functional than the 1 bed and 2 bed apartments and the rent house I lived in while in college.

I could quite happily cook here. 😀

I don’t see any problem with this kitchen. It has more cupboards and counter space than most tiny houses. Ethan most be use to bigger spaces, I guess.

I lived for twelve years in a 32 foot Class A motor home that had NO counter space except for the gizmo you put over the other half of the sink. I had three burners and never used more than one at a time. I think cooks can learn to get along with a lot less counter space than they realize…it means cleaning up as you go and preparing ahead a little but it can be done. I feel that large TH kitchens are a waste of space…I would rather have more space for sitting, reading, watching TV, company, etc.

You raise a good point Bonny, I absolutely adore my Grandparents 63′ Airstream, spent all my summers in it growing up and can’t believe it is still standing (it’s dated and needs TLC mind you) but I think the kitchen is so well laid out in it, quite perfect for daily living it has a lot of hidden features you just don’t find in the new, my gram used to always teach to clean as you go, it’s stuck in my head truly…moving back to the better days of less clutter is GOOD, thanks for the reminder bonnie!

Thank you for the tour. I totally agree with the use of a normal sized double sink. Loved the full extension drawers, including the ones in the pantry. It is amazing how much you got into that bottom pantry drawer! As far as the stove and fridge go, if you must be off-grid, then you have a great setup, including the propane and CO2 detector. For me, I would prefer a pair of induction burners that can be put on that third pantry shelf, which I would add. And a Breville countertop electric convection oven. The inside of their larger model is about the same size as an RV oven, which is incidentally notorious for poor heat circulation and burning the bottoms of everything! This of course would change your power delivery, and here I am in favor of the ‘RV special’ combo of solar power and a battery bank, with a generator for backup for cloudy weather. I am going to go visit your site, hoping to see the rest of this tiny house. If the rest is planned as well as the kitchen, it’s a real winner!

That kitchen is larger than the one I have in my carriage house. Sine I cook almost all my meals and often have a couple of friends visit. I would sacrifice the pantry and put in a large counter-depth refrigerator.

When I moved into this place, the sink was cheap builder’s grade. Two shallow basins, a pitcher didn’t fit under the faucet. I found an deluxe farmhouse sink with faucet on CraigsList for less than the cost of the faucet. I enjoy my kitchen so much more. I use a plastic tub for dishes, and I can lift it out if I want to use the whole sink for prep and wash dishes later.

Love the kitchen, especially all the storage. I’ve lived with small refrigerators and prefer slightly more space and a freezer. Good to know propane may not be the answer.

I really like the big sink and the window above. I lived for years with a tiny galley kitchen that was a dead-end and had no windows. I rarely cooked.

Now is there a kitchen I can get with Ethan in it? He’s charming and I love the lilt in his voice.

That last part was a little uncalled for.

It is harmless and complimentary. If out of the entire thread that is what you zero in on for comment… or scolding… that is telling.
