Water Tank Tiny House You Can Tow with a Bicycle

This post contains affiliate links.

Right now I want to show you this incredible and lightweight Taku-Tanku tiny house on wheels created by Stereotank and Takahiro Fukuda that you can tow with a bicycle, on foot, or even with a boat.

It’s great because it’s designed to be made from two 670 gallon water tanks which of course can be recycled. And, it’s really easy to assemble, too. The tanks are connected by a rectangle of wood.

How about that? A micro home that you don’t have to spend 1-2 years building… And you can tow it with a bicycle if you wanted to!

This design is a product of the Little House Competition in Saitama, Japan which was held in early 2014.

The interior is made to accommodate 2-3 people. It has compartments to store your luggage and other goodies. And skylights to bring nature and light in.

And it’s more flexible than you might think at first since the company says you can:

  • tow it by foot,
  • by bicycle,
  • by car,
  • and even by boat.

Your lightweight, recycled, amphibious tiny home has arrived. And pricing for the first prototype is said to be just $8,000 to $10,000 according to Gizmag.

That’s a hard shell tent, not a tiny home.

I guess that would be an appropriate name for it too, thanks Beth

Well, Boler trailers started out as septic tanks, sort of. At least that was the inspiration.

Just be extra careful if you look for these containers or similar that they were NOT used to hold or ship chemicals—around here in farm country they use them for lots of stuff including anhydrous ammonia–which can kill you quick. I have no idea how much residue or off-gassing they might do–so look into them carefully.

That said I could see a few of these ganged up together for a fun campground or weekend place–or emergency shelters.

And they would need to be anchored carefully–I have seen these float off in floods from the feed and train yards even with product IN them.

Stylish re-use of materials but…. What does it weigh in at? ….700lbs? 1000lbs?
Forget about human or bike power unless dead flat country and no headwinds.
    That said a nice design.

Not sure about weight Andy but my guess would be right around 1000 lbs (hopefully a bit less)

And I agree on human/bike powered towing although it could be useful just to move it around for solar gain, etc when parked stationary somewhere ya know

hmm if it can be towed by human powered bike maybe a 49cc scooter or moped would make it easier or even an eScooter, throw some solar panels on the roof to charge the eScooter while riding or even when parked.

Love it! Great idea for vacationing in. Much better than a tent and safer too. May build one myself.
