  • Independent suspension

  • Electric brakes
  • Quick set up and pack up time

The 490 model is the largest Urban Escape Vehicle that the company offers. It weighs approximately 2,976 lbs and is built similar to the way an aircraft is. That means it’s airtight and can handle constant rough terrain without issues. The camper even has a diesel hot water system, refrigerator, and kitchen. Storage is perfectly designed so that your stuff doesn’t bounce around everywhere as you’re on the go.

Great idea (above) if you’re building your own tiny house, too. This way if you tow your house, your things are already secured.

Most of the facilities are able to be used from the outside like the kitchen, bathroom, fridge, utensils, bar, and other storage. But if the weather is bad, most of these features can be accessed from the inside as well.

I have looked at this UEV 490 and other Australian RVs online and have been highly impressed with the many features and the durability of them. It is amazing that this camper has so many kitchen items to be used in or outside the cammper. I’ve never seen any of these Australian campers in the eastern US but would like to.

That is what I call ‘off roading in style’. 🙂 That is really neat looking.

This is awesome! I have been looking for something like this for a little while now. I came across this in a search, do you know off the top of your head if anything like this is available in the US? Thanks in advance.

Closest I’ve seen is Adventure Trailers in the US, and they’re not really the same sort of thing.
I hope someone does something like this here!

Thank you so much for this very informative post. I really find it very useful because there are so many off road campers nowadays and it seems very hard for people like me to find the best one. Sharing us this information can greatly help me as well as other people out there. Thanks 🙂

Hey, this is the first time I’ve posted a comment on here. I normally love getting ideas for my own tiny house plans from you but I think you went off the deep end here. $58,000 for a trailer?!? Just my opinion but that is insane! How about an over-priced-piece-of-plastic Mercedes to pull it with. Anyway, I love your blog and look forward to each newsletter. Thnx!

I understand your resistance, Troy, and I largely share it. But I DO think it’s always useful to see new strategies for making the most of a small space, regardless of the price of that space.

I don’t think for a moment that Alex is recommending we throw away our ideas for a frugal and sustainable tiny home in favour of us all getting this Australian testosterone-laced caravan. 🙂

Just remember, Australia has some of the most inhospitable environments around on the planet. Most of the country is desert. Like, no water! This is a combo adventure/survival vehicle. It’s built like the proverbial brick sh*t house.

For those who haven’t looked yet, below are the specs for this vehicle, which btw is NOT their top of the line offering, and given what you get I don’t think the price is over the top. After all, what price do you put on your life and health?:

Yes, these are pricey, but I’d pay an awful lot for the franchise rights to sell these babies in the US! It won’t be long before we start to see these state side.

Already few in california! Paid less than 50k us with import fees.

Also there is another company in u.s that sells similar trailers with bullet proof upgrades.

60K isnt bad since a new airstream trailer can cost that and not even able to go off road like the AU trailers.

Also there is another company in u.s that sells similar trailers with bullet proof upgrades. My friend has a tumble home and its already falling apart and he only moves it four times a year and paid 60k plus for it.

Alot of tiny homes wont last as long as these trailers.

I’m looking at buying a 2014 model UEV490 in Australia priced at AUD$60k. They are 4.9mtrs tow length. I went to the Conqueror Australia workshop/showroom recently and the 2015 model is AUD$79k including air conditioning and microwave. I know it’s expensive but compared to its competitors not so. A Complete campsite hybrid 5.4mtrs tow length is AUD$82k.

For those interested in such things, I am developing a design for a line of trailers with similar capabilities for various size vehicles. They can be customized or loaded up with available options that rival the Conqueror line. I have studied the South African and Australian trailers and all the features they offer to develop my brand. It is still in the design phase, but I will be putting it out there soon. Not a tiny house, but more of an adventure seekers home away from home.

Looks like a well designed and built range of off road campers to suit off road Aussie conditions .. There’s lots of camper trailer and caravan manufacturers in Aus and there are lots of different types of terrain .. Australia is roughly the same size as the USA and we’ve got massive amounts of space that doesn’t need off road equipment to get to and lots of places that do .. We’ve got something for everyone here .. 😎

I’m very impressed at how rugged it is. Great for those who like to camp waaayyyyy off of the beaten path. I remember as a teenager going camping with my family in the Sierras. The road we had to drive to get to our destination was what I would call “graded boulders.” This trailer would be perfect to get to places like that.
