He Built A Genius, Space-Saving Truck Camper

This post contains affiliate links.

This modern truck camper easily fits inside the bed of this F-150 truck. Inside there’s everything you would need to go camping comfortably… A fold out couch bed, kitchen, and a toilet. It’s called the QuickUp Camper.

As you enter the camper on the right there’s a kitchen. Opposite of that is the port-a-potty area. On both sides there are couches that turn into a bed. When not in bed mode, you can set up your table to eat, work, or play cards. Below the sink and sofa beds there’s plenty of compartments for storage. That means you can bring your coffee maker, shower kit, a tent, and whatever else you might need. And it all fits out of sight so your mind is clear. It’s genius because when folded down it’s smaller and sleeker than you’d imagine and it takes just 30 seconds to transform. Check it out!

Don’t miss the rest of the photos and the video tour demonstration below. This is a great addition to our micro shelters section.

If you’re not familiar with Jay Baldwin, he has been a pioneer in the world of geodesic domes, renewable energy, and sustainable architecture for years. At one time he was also editor for the popular Whole Earth Catalog.

QuickUp Truck Camper Folded Down

When folded down the QuickUp camper fits in a garage and is very aerodynamic. Plus it only weighs 800 lbs.

You can use it for camping or you can use it as a mobile office. For example, an instant computer repair shop, realty office, or even a mobile writing studio. Inside there’s 6′ 4″ of headroom and it expands in just 30 seconds. Compare that to setting up a tent!

VIDEO TOUR: How It Works…

Pricing for the Quickup camper starts at approximately $12,000. If you’re interested visit Quickup camper’s website to inquire for more information on how to purchase. 2020 Update: Unfortunately, the website is no longer working. We’re not sure if you can still order a Quickup camper or not! But it sure is fun to still get to look at.

This is a very practical camper solution and is remarkably similar to “The Propert Camper” available in Australia in the 1950’s.

Thanks Steve I’ll look that one up!

I contacted Jay a couple years ago and these weren’t in production. Are they currently available? It’s a great idea. Can’t believe it hasn’t been done before.

Thanks, Kyle! Yup- I’m pretty sure he’ll produce one for anyone who wants to buy one. Have a good one!

The quick up camper looks interesting. Are they available, new or used?
Jay seems like an interesting guy. If an article on him references the new alchemy institute, he must be on a different plane or planet

Hmmm the website is gone now, leading me to believe he no longer sells new ones…used ones could end up on Craigslist but it’d be hard to locate, I think.

I looked Jay Baldwin up… regrettably, he passed away in 2018, and it appears none of his websites are functioning any longer.

I’m really bummed, because I am desperate to get out of my current livving situation and this seemed the best solution for me at the moment.

I did see, but it’s kind of cramped.
However, I have been surfing the internet, and between currently active websites and the Internet Archive, I’ve found lots of pictures I can use as guides for a build of my own.
