Tiny Zen Cabin in the Forest

Love the wooded life? Check out this tiny zen cabin in the Oregon forest.

Outside, you’ll notice a square two-story home covered in unfinished wooden “slices.” The tall a-line roof allows plenty of headroom when you’re in the second-floor sleeping loft.

When you go inside, you’ll find a beautiful open space with a corner kitchen featuring wooden countertops and open shelving and a large elevated floor couch area. A wood-burning stove doubles as an oven and cook top. At the end of the house, you’ll find a beautiful wooden staircase leading to the bedroom. Climb up and you’ll find a queen-sized bed under a canopy of pine paneled ceilings with exposed beams. For a tiny home, this is one spacious bedroom! Please enjoy, learn more, and re-share below. Thank you!

    A peaceful tranquil little place.
    Beautifully built.
I had seen this great little place before , but it`s good to see it again.

You didn’t mention that the cabin was built by Brian Schulz, well known traditional kayak builder. Such a shame.

Precious little cabin but designed for the young and nimble. There is room for a small kitchen and I would put in real living room furniture and a wood burning, free-standing fireplace. By the way, where is the bathroom? We would have to build on for an enclosed bathroom and a spare room for our kitties

Enchanting cottage — the warm wood makes it so inviting and the
surround (lush foliage) certainly adds. I would, tho, like to have seen more — the bathroom, any closets or storage, etc. Still — just
    so nice!

Very pretty pictures. Not practical for full-time living.

The unfinished exterior definitely needs a suitable finish, and renewed yearly.

Beautiful appearance but there is not a chance in……. That I am going outdoors in the dark to use the bathroom. In fact,I don’t want to do that at anytime.so bathroom a must. Would like a kitchen but I have camped and can do outdoor cooking . now that I think about it, I would want at least a way to store leftovers and a way to heat coffee even if only a coffee pot, but this is pretty nice

Serene and secluded. One of my faves.

Here is a video about the house. He explains more of his philosophy behind it.

So sad to always see comments that take away from the art and craftsmanship of such a beautiful dwelling. Obviously the cabin was built with a specific purpose in mind and oriented towards the tastes of the customer and individual building it. I realize the comments are subjective but those that critisize, feel free to build whatever you want using whatever design, means and methods you choose. The cabin is beautiful!

I think some people just missed what the concept is about.. Simple living, hence “zen” cottage!

There is a very simplistic kitchen… Counter, sink, hot plate, electric teapot, and cooking on the wood stove (pans are hanging above it).

As for the sofa area… I can see multi-purpose function. A nice communal area for conversation and relaxing, and it provides adequate space for yoga… Off the possibly cold floor.

And yes, what a beautiful stairway. Whether or not its my dream space, someone was kind enough to share their dream.
