This micro apartment / studio in New York City is a great example of simple living in the big apple.

Or any city for that matter. It’s a one room space with full kitchen and bathroom in a great location in NYC.

You’re right in Hell’s Kitchen.. Two blocks away from Broadway and Times Square.

The apartment has some nice stylish features as well as some space saving tricks that I’ll show you below.

As soon as you walk in you’re greeted by the open floor plan with living room and bedroom all-in-one. Immediately to your left is a nicely placed shoe rack. Turn around and there’s your kitchen and bathroom. If you’re interested, let me show you the rest below:

Notice the cabinets that have been installed on the wall to the left and the wardrobe that was brought in to use as a closet space.

Kitchen Style Cabinets as Storage in Bedrooms, Living Rooms? Yes..

I could really use some cabinets just like that in my 400 sq. ft. apartment here in Florida because I’d be able to get rid of some clunky furniture that’s currently storing my stuff and taking up some valuable floor space! Too bad I’m just renting the place.

Crown Molding Accents Throughout

I always appreciate some crown molding, especially in small spaces because it’s usually pretty inexpensive to put it in when you’re not dealing with an oversized home.

In the photo below you can see the wardrobe better. I like how it also doubles as a mirror. Perfect for a tiny apartment!

I also like when there’s exposed brick walls, I’m not sure why. In this case they painted right over it which looks great but I also like when its left in its natural look.

Pretty spacious for NYC although there’s a lot of bathroom storage hacks you can put into play here.

What some of you may not realize is that many of the postings on air bandb are simply illegal hotels. Affordable housing in NYC is under attack from unscrupulous landlords and greedy apartment “wranglers” who warehouse apartments(some of which are supposed to be stabilized) and use what should be housing for individual NYers as their own personal cottage industry. Please think twice before you rent one of these apartments.

That is a huge apartment compared to the one my mother has.
Her entire apartment minus the bathroom is the the area where the bed and closet are.
This is in an old building where this size is common and rent is $1500 a month!
Not my cup of tea~ I live in a yurt way up in the mountains. But it works for her.

You live in a yurt? That’s awesome! Would you like to share pics w/ us? We’d all probably love to see it, I know I would. And your mom’s place sounds cool too! And she got a great deal for NYC.

If you want to send me story and photos that I can share here my email is [email protected]

This is a beautiful apartment. I love the finishes. The appliances are great sizes. They would accommodate more than one person living there very well. Just because a space is small doesn’t mean you should have to skimp on all of the amenities.

GREAT space!!!! And no ladder or stairs to climb to sleep or just drift away with a good book in bed.

What’s with all the Hatin’ going on regarding the size of the kitchen appliances? Good Grief, Overwrought, Much???? Believe it or not, there are SOME of us who are passionate about cooking meals from scratch both for ourselves and our friends/family. And I’m not talking about a cast iron pot over the fire with wilted root vegetables inside of it!<direct from youtube, folks! This is N.Y.C.!, not some valley in the Appalachians where you can cook your Moose & Squirrel in your outdoor kitchen! Geez-Lousie! When YOU build-out your Urban Space, ditch the kitchen if you so desire; I'm sure this place has to be Up To Code, meaning plumbing, electric and full-size appliances. It IS the City, after all. pffffftttt…

When staying in any large urban city, my husband and I always try to find a place like this (or an extended stay hotel room) with a fully equipped kitchen, just to save on costs. I'd rather spend my money seeing a Broadway play or taking a whale tour in San Fran than spending my money on daily food. Yes, one or two nice dinners at a recommended place is lovely, but you won't see us paying $4 bucks for a cuppa coffee and another $4 bucks for a simple croissant! Even when I was working in Europe for a year, I found places like this to rent and made regular trips to the market to make my own food. It was far more fun and cheap! to hang out with the locals at the market, than the tourists at the bistros.

I love the layout and also how you can watch TV from bed…always a plus in my book! 😀

Went to find out how much it rents for: $2,800/month. For N.Y.C., that’s dirt cheap! Would be awesome for a Corporate Apartment, especially with the full washer/drier combo, too. It’s $205/night; I’ve paid up to $300/night for a place in the Michigan boonies! :0

Here’s the stats on the place. “The newly renovated studio apartment is located in Midtown West/Hell’s Kitchen two blocks from Broadway, Times Square.

Conveniently located next to all major trains–two blocks from CE, NRQ, and 1 trains.

The studio/1 bedroom has a large full bathroom, a full kitchen (full-size refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave), full bed with sheets, a couch that folds into a full-size bed (1-2 people), clean towels, high-def tv, premium cable, free Wi-fi, and a PERSONAL WASHER AND DRYER IN THE APARTMENT!

Easily accessible to everything! Duane Reade one block away, 24 hr deli downstairs, all broadway shows within blocks, next to restaurant row many places to dine and drink!”

Thanks Cahow! Yup I also thought $2800 for an entire month in NYC was a pretty good deal and a nice alternative to a hotel.

Ex-act-O-mently, Alex! I get that there are many people that wouldn’t sit foot in any urban area and I respect that. Same goes for people who regard any part of the U.S. without a Million + population as the “Fly Over Zone.” But some tolerance on both sides of the coin would be nice. After all, if every single person in America ditched the city and wanted to own a tiny house in the woods, there’d be NO WOODS, as your neighbor would be within an arm’s length of your tiny home!

Each lifestyle has it’s Up Side and Down Side and if you’re true to yourself, you’ll find the place that brings you peace and joy.

          True!!! 🙂

I love how even the apartment is so small, the kitchen is still separate. That’s something I can’t accept here in Europe – it’s okay to have just one really big space, where you have your bed/sofa, desk and kitchen. Sorry, I don’t want to sleep in my last night’s dinner’s evaporation. I’ll for sure take some ideas out of this apartment, it almost looks like a hotel. Sadly, as the others said, it isn’t very cheap.
