In this post I’m showing you this fantastic tiny stone cottage in the country side in France.

If you live the busy life in a city there’s nothing like escaping for a little while to the country, park, trail, forest, nature, or oceanside to get some rest and relaxation.

And that’s exactly what this family uses their 17th century cottage in France for.

I think you’ll really enjoy the rest of it so check it out below:

Most of the furnishings inside were found on France’s equivalent to Craigslist which is called Le bon coin.

Very charming cottage. Love the sleeping accommodations in the attic with the chimney for warmth. This really adds a touch of Old World charm. My only problem is with the staircase that ends at the wall; how does anyone get on the stairs to go up if it ends at the wall?

It doesn’t. It is an optical illusion caused by the angle and perspective of the original photo.

But, it does come very close to the wall and you have to do a 90° at the foot of the stairs otherwise you’ll either seriously damage the wall, or seriously damage your nose. Your choice… lol

Lol. I’ll keep my nose, thanks. And thank you for the explanation of how one navigates that staircase. 🙂

YESSS! Love this stone house, especially the foot wide walls, makes for a warm winter and cool summer. It looks so cozy and charming, I wouldn’t mind living in something like this, unfortunately it isn’t in northern Ontario Canada. I am out of luck here, but at least I am able to admire it from afar!

Oh Alex, you have found the pot of gold for me! I adore everything French and this petite maison is a gem. I would love to live in a home from the 1600s where I can play the role of chatelaine, carrying around all of my keys on my belt, and pretending that I am anticipating an invitation to the Sun King’s court. lol

Click through to her blog and there is a good picture of the hob/oven, sink and washing machine. There is probably a fridge along that wall, too.

I agree, a beautiful little house. There are lots of small houses like this in France. We have one as a holiday home, a bit further north from this one, in the Charente.

    Hello,
What is the square foot of living space?
The house seems quite spacious as small as it is.
