Conceivably, it is very nice from the (very) little we are shown. Quite modern, in fact. Using the phrase “in a seemingly wonderful neighborhood” worries me. I have read that major crime is off the charts down there. As I understand it, there is like a 100% chance of being robbed, but only a 50% chance they’ll ever find your body again.

Hi Steve, Hate to burst that bubble, sure there is crime, but when I watch the news and see the USA crime it saddens me too! I’ve had retired American guests who have only used public transport, trains, buses, etc. Never had a single problem, my next American guest arrives for a month next week, having been referred by a fellow American that was here for a month too – so you have to be street wise like any city – bad news sells and the papers love the hype!
With our Rand currency being weak at 15.6 US $ to the Rand – tourists are having the cheapest holidays ever! (today’s rate 5/16/2016)

Steve in Palm Bay… vury funny. this is true of where I live, except they do occasionally find the bodies. They drunk guys with the machetes usually leave the bodies at the killing site as it is too much work to drag them into the bush! Welcome to Central America and the urban slums of the USA LOL

Kristina…..you should relocate your dream tiny house to either the USA (many great parts outside the big cities in Florida) or turn south to Chile (great merlot) or Uraguay (great beaches). My trip to San Pedro Sula was most definitely on the excitement plan! ¡Cuidado!
