    Wow, my kind of place. Love the wood cook stove and that screen porch. Didn’t see any mention of a well or having to haul water in or get it delivered.

    Wow, you’d really need a pioneering spirit to tackle this one. I’m afraid I’ve gone soft in my old age. Been there done that with ‘out houses’. Love the country side and the verandas. The verandas take me back. If there was an old copper boiler for washing clothes it would make my childhood complete!!!

      at least we can hope the cabin has enough altitude to eliminate the possibility of brown recluse biting your behind as you sit in the rustic outhouse

    Oh. My. God! From the first pictures it looks like one good sneeze and it’d come falling down. Obviously not… but no way I’d live in it. Would not be what I’d call warm, especially in winter. Probably need the wood burner going 24 hours a day over winter. Gads, I’ve shivering just at the thought of that right now. Probably doesn’t help that I’m from NZ and it’s the start of winter here now as well.

    It’s almost a hundred years old and still looks in pretty good shape, so must have been well taken care of over the years. It also must have been built pretty darn well in the first place to still be in such good shape, so
    I would guess its pretty sturdy. By now those logs are rock hard and impervious to insects and rot, and the chinking looks good, so it has probably been filled in with the more modern chinking materials that breath with the logs in each season, and so don’t pull away from the logs and shrink. Logs that thick (and the newer chinking) have about R-13 value, so it is probably keeps heat in better than a standard stud wall with 3″ of fiberglass. I know from experience that log homes stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer with little effort. Overall, this place has lots of potential to be a warm, inviting, and gorgeous home for anyone who doesn’t mind hauling in water and cutting wood.

    How many acres, what are the restrictions, how to you get to it or I should say do you have access rights? Mighty important questions. House does look cool.
