Tiny Kat: Escape Vista Tiny House on Wheels

This is the Tiny Kat, an Escape Vista model that belongs to a woman named — you guessed it — Kat!

She writes on her website:

On March 3, 2017 we picked up our Escape Vista in beautiful Rice Lake Wisconsin. We had no idea what we were going to do with this tiny house, named Tiny Kat, but I had to have it. Yes, we looked at RVs, Air Stream and thought about vacation homes… The Escape Vista won my heart from the first step in the door. There was no question in my mind I had to have it. I’ve never had a travel trailer. Ty and I just learned how to back the darn thing up without WW3 happening! I hope the site provides insight into owners of the Escape Vista, our victories and our “opportunities.”

She had a free open house event in May and will have more in the future. For now, enjoy taking a picture tour below!

I love her fun bedspread! What a great cozy nook.

The kitchen comes with everything you need!

Looking from the bed to the kitchen area. Great table.

Beautiful wooden open shelving to display those cute cups.

If only going tiny meant never washing dishes again!

Blinds roll down for privacy and blocking the sun when needed.

There is so much counter space in this tiny bathroom!

Get both a shower and tub in this model. Amazing.

Hers has a dry-flush toilet. What kind would you pick?

Ditto that Tiny Talk Team! I’ve learned so much about tiny homes and tiny house living from this site. I feel much more “informed” about design and the entire movement… all thanks to you and this fantastic site.

Now to actually put the design together that works best for me!

I think it depends on the brand, but here is some general info from this brand: http://www.dry-flush.com/

According to the website, “Every time you “flush,” the “bowl” is collapsed and a twist is formed in the continuous feed of material above the waste, effectively wrapping it, and holding it sealed in the bottom of the container. This patented process of sealing off the waste in barrier material ensures there is nothing to see and nothing to smell! Once the cycle is complete a new bowl is formed from the bagging material and the Laveo Dry-Flush is ready to use again in less than 30 seconds!”

From the FAQ: “Waste is automatically encapsulated during a “flush” and hidden in a lined container under the seat. When the cartridge is expended, lift up the toilet seat and the trim piece just under it. Lift out the liner bag containing wrapped waste. You will never see or smell waste at any time.”

That liner cartridge must be replaced every so often (15-20 flushes, I think), and the battery lasts for ~300 flushes before needing to be recharged. For me, a big question is the cost of the liner cartridge.

I really like this little home. The decor and colors are wonderful!! For a small home, it looks big inside. It’s low on clutter and that makes everything look so nice and clean!!

Low on clutter is often the key to tiny houses feeling spacious! 🙂

Low on clutter makes “any” house feel more spacious. Would even make Buckingham Palace (aka Buck House in NZ) feel more spacious.

That toilet supply issue raised by Dick does matter. After market stuff isn’t always easy to find and with one “brand” you’ll pay what they charge.
There are several liner-type toilets on the market. One does a “squeeze and compress” before going into a 1 time use liner. Then there’s the incinolet that has a liner but burns everything down to ash. I don’t know how may uses that liner has, but I like the idea of not taking torpedoes of waste to some dump.
