I love looking at these tiny houses! It is so fabulous to get ideas. We have our trailer base (which we are paying off), and we anticipate beginning building in the late spring. I am a stay-at-home mom to two teen boys, and we live off of one income. Our whole purpose of building a tiny home is so that once our boys are grown, we can sell our current home, and have no debt, allowing my husband and myself the freedom to do what we want. Be that opening a business for my husband, working only a part time job, or whatever. It is to create the gift of time for both of us in the future.
My son’s don’t leave our nest for another 5 years, so we have abundant time to build the perfect tiny home for just the two of us.

Hey Wendi that’s great that you guys are planning ahead already. Glad you came by and I’m looking forward to following your progress on the tiny home. I like how these little houses help create freedom for people.

I had the big house, 4 car garage and pool and all the bills and stress that goes with that lifestyle. I downsized to a 14×14 off grid cabin and simplified my life and have never regretted that decision. I was able to start a business because I wasn’t worried about monthly bills and now I keep more of that money in my pocket. I travel, write books and music and I am an avid outdoors adventurer and that lifestyle is now not confined to two week vacations at the pleasure of an employer and is year round and whenever I feel like it. No mortgage, no bills and freedom!

We are building a tiny home for our retirement. Our youngest is only eight. We plan to build and rent it out until he leaves for college. We are going to build slowly over time so that we incur no debt. We will then sell our home and move into the tiny house. This decision means we will be able to retire early rather than working until we die. Tiny house equals freedom and that is the real dream!
