Tiny House on a Trailer Construction Time Lapse Video

This post is for you if you’re interested in how the construction of a tiny house on a trailer works.

It’s a time lapse video based on pictures taken during the building process of Joanna’s tiny house on wheels.

She used the Tumbleweed Tarleton Plans as a base and then made her own customizations to the design to better suit her needs.

According to the comments on her YouTube video, the cost to build it was approximately $23,000.

Joanna purchased a 7′ x 18′ trailer custom made for $2,500 at Fox Trailers in Idaho.

One thing that I also found while reading through the comments on her video is that she really appreciates her porch. Here, you can read the comment yourself below.

I encourage you to read the rest of this post, including her construction video & comments, below:

“Actually, I LOVE having my porch. I live in a very rainy environment, so it’s a place where I can hang my raincoat to dry… or sit and read a book in the shade. I keep my shoes under one of the benches, and am planning to keep some firewood under the other bench when I get my woodstove installed. So, YES. I would say the porch is a very useful part of the house! :)”

Her trailer has a 10,000 lbs capacity and the house weighs approximately 7,500 lbs.

You can definitely tell that it’s built with love and some exceptional skills. I vacillate back and forth about having a porch on my design, but this definitely clenched it. Gotta have a porch!

I have an old 30′ 5th wheel trailer that I am going to strip down to a bare frame. When the frame is bare will I have to add any steel to the frame for additional reinforcement? thank you.

No matter how bad my day has gone, when I watch a TH being built, I get happy, happy! 🙂

Every time I talk about building a TH my mother always tells me to put a porch on it. A porch really does add that homey something to the overall feeling of the house.

I get a special kick out of seeing a TH on the highway; it’s a good thing 🙂

This was a job well done and I’m only sorry there aren’t more interior pics. Maybe after Joanna gets moved in and settled, she might give us an update.

Nope they tow just fine. Most people though don’t move them very often… They stay put for a while 🙂
