Tiny Coastal Cottage in Canada

This is a beautiful tiny coastal cottage in Canada you can rent on Airbnb for around $140/night.

Outside, you’ll notice a simple 600 square foot cottage encased in pine shakes and a metal roof. A gravel driveway leads up to the home’s small porch and sharp black door.

When you go inside, you’ll find an open-floor plan, with kitchen and living area in one room. The cream walls contrast with the grey accents in the counter top, rug, and couch. You’ll also find a flat-screen TV and WiFi for all your entertainment needs, as well as large pieces of artwork that add a pop of color to the soothing pallet. Step into the bedroom and find a large, spacious place to relax. The bathroom has a great tile and glass shower, as well as a beautiful vanity.

This is a lovely house, but for that price, I’d want a turn-down/tuck in, a bedtime story, and a chocolate mint on the pillow, LOL! Tell me it is at least quoted in Canadian dollars, and not American. Seriously, I’d love a home just that size, and as light and bright and contemporary, but with a full kitchen with lots more storage space for my many appliances and cooking accoutrements.

140/night USD is not high for a house on the coast.
An average 2-star motel in land-locked Denver runs around 90/night, and for that you get convenient access to the freeway that is less than 50-yards away.

barbara into your “serious” comments. I too like to cook and want a real kitchen with ample storage for all my equipment. Plus I will not be able to do stairs and ladders to get to bedroom space. These 2 requirements will keep me out of the tiny home market. However, properly laid out I can get what I need to be comfortable in a small hous of 6-800 ft sq.

Well, I’m in New Zealand, and when I go on AirBNB it always shows in New Zealand dollars.

And hmmm, went back and lo and behold it showed $107. A little sleuthing (ok, a fair bit of sleuthing) and I found that when I normally go on airbnb it shows airbnb.co.nz so I checked the Canada suffix and substituted .com with .ca and it showed in Canadian dollars.

So the lesson is, make sure you use your country’s suffix to access the sites costings in your country’s currency.

I just joined airb&b yesterday, and wasn’t aware of how they show prices. Thank you for the tip, Eric! Also, Kristina – it is frustrating to see how few tiny homes have been planned with a downstairs bedroom. I see that Escape homes has a new one out called the Vista. I’ve always been drawn to their other models as well. I saw the Traveler XL in Tampa’s huge RV show last month, and it is absolutely gorgeous. Most storage, however, takes place on catwalk-type shelves that require a ladder to reach.

This is as near perfect as it gets for me. This is what I have always envisioned. Absolutely beautiful. I so wish I could visit.

Be very careful when using Airbnb. They are notorious for not vetting their renters and you could end up with something quite different than described. I’m sure this place is lovely…..but beware Airbnb.

Is there a plan you can buy for this cottage?
