One of our awesome Tiny House Newsletter readers sent these Tiny Cabin photos to me.

It’s of a tiny house he found in the Catskills in Upstate New York.

The cabin has an upstairs sleeping loft that you can actually stand up in.

And it’s hooked up with a wood stove and propane. It was previously lived in but is now just used for storage.

Here’s the email I got from him:

Alex,

Thought you might enjoy these photos I took last week of a Tiny House located at my sister’s place in the Catskills in Upstate New York.

Although not on wheels, it certainly qualifies as ‘tiny’ at only 14’x16′. The roof on one side extends down farther than the other creating a slightly ‘L’-shaped floor plan. It is rigged with both a wood stove and propane and has a stand-up sleeping loft that extends about half of the floor plan.

Currently it is being used for storage; however it was lived in during the build of a larger house on the same property.

Feel free to post if you’d like.

Cheers,

Dirk

Dirk, thank you so much for sharing this with all of us.

From the front it looks a lot like my 14×14 cabin that I live in year round. The ceiling is generally put at 7 foot to give you more head room in the loft. The cabins are designed to be expanded with additions on 3 sides for more room as your need it or have the money.

This design is probably one of the easiest to build and provides maximum space in a small foot print. Cost for my cabin was under $2000.

It is a shame it is only being used as a shed and to the guy that said it is not a house he needs to consider that all houses are just sheds to hold our stuff and protect us from the environment. Many people around the world be very thankful to have such a nice house as that.

The Catskills are NOT Upstate NY. Feel free to join me in Oswego, where Upstate actually is.

I don’t suppose they’d want to sell it? I’m looking for a tiny house in the southern tier of New York for a writing getaway. I live twenty miles north of Manhattan.
