Tilde Potoms is sharing this 8×12 tiny house design with us as part of our 2015 8×12 tiny house design contest.

In this design there is a foldout table under the bed which was inspired by this toggle bed.

Almost all the storage is in the floor which is pretty cool, right? Please enjoy the tiny house design below.

Update: New photos added (thanks Tilde!)

    The good, no sleeping loft.
    The bad, no bathroom.
8’x12′ is too small to get it all.

The shower pops up from the floor in sketch #5. You could put a porta-potty inside the shower I guess and keep it elsewhere when the shower is not up.

I like the fold down bed and floor storage. But like Micheal…need a full bath to complete the design.

The bath is behind the door. It doesn’t look that obvious, sorry about that 🙂

Hi Tilde, do you have these plans for sale?

I believe the section between the bed and the kitchen, with the little blue square at the top (window?) is the bathroom. If you do a marine/rv style bath, it can survive with a very small footprint.
Like the others, I LOVE the fold out bed that features the built-in fold out table built. Not sure how keen I am on the storage in the floor, but it does show the designer was definitely thinking outside the box when they created this one. Great job, Tilde!

I second all the ‘likes’. I suspected the section between the kitchen and bed is a small bath. I’ve always liked the idea of under-floor storage very much. It’s so effecient and still leaves floor space. Nice.

Cool! I’ve had a similar shower idea for about 3 years now, when I started designing my perfect tiny house. Another 3 years and I should finally be able to afford to build it. I suspect I’ll leave the shower rod in place, tuck the curtain into a corner, and cover the shower base/japanese tub to use as a counter top.

I love the way the underfloor storage keeps as much open floor space as possible. I also think to make up from the sketches that the underfloor storage is modular, that people can decide themselves what module (shower/storage/…) they want inserted? This looks pretty perfect to me.

Is this TH on wheels? If so, does anyone know if the distribution of weight in the floor for storage would affect safe towing ability? Great concept.

I like the bed and table/desk configuration, but would opt for hardware which enables the table to swing “up” with its contents undisturbed when the bed folds down. Looking forward to seeing more pictures.

I love it. There’s a lot of great space saving ideas in this that can be used with a larger footprint, if that is what you need. For an 8×12 I think this is probably the best you can do. Very efficient use of space imho.

Being right-handed, I’m not sure that the sink’s position would work. Other than that, this is a really nice design.

I’m not sure I understand all of the drawings, but if I’m right in assuming that the shower sort of pops up out of the floor, that is all kinds of cool. You’d think every RV manufacturer could use an idea like that.

This is the sort of thing that attracted me to the idea of tiny homes (though perhaps a TOUCH bigger), the sheer ingenuity that can be shown. The dual and sometimes triple uses of space, hiding things away, etec. This can even be used in somewhat bigger houses, to offer space when needed, and pull things out when you want to use them.

Hey Eric, the drawings are indeed not very consistent.
They are two designs. The first design had a shower with walls (on top of the drawing, with a little window in the door). But after some time I added the shower coming out of the floor, and completely forgot to delete the previous shower and use that space. Stupid 🙂
The second design was mostly about the kitchen/desk combo. I guess I should now combine the two to get the most out of it.
Thanks for all your comments everyone!
