I DO VERY MUCH LIKE THE LAY OUT AND ESPECIALLY THE STAIRS, WHICH ARE SAFE, SECURE, AND WITH A RAIL AND WALL MAKING ENTRY AND EXIST TO THE LOFT AREA STABLE. ALL BUILDERS SHOULD MAKE NOTE OF THIS.

Glad you like the stairs 🙂

Wicked glad to see the handrail but it doesn’t meet code…

Very nice cabin look. Can picture this being placed near a lake. I’m a bit surprised that it doesn’t have a downstairs bedroom. I’d love to see how people use the loft area other than as a bedroom. I think it would be great as a den area and hobby room.

      That’s a wonderful idea, Emily!

During good weather you could use the screened porch as a sleeping porch. It’s a nice little mobile home. Funny how we call them ‘tiny houses’ now –these have been around for years.

I REMEMBER AS A CHILD, WE USE TO HAVE PAJAMA PARTIES, AND SLEEP OUT ON OUR SCREENED IN PORCH, LOOKING AT THE STARS, EATING SNACKS, AND JUST HAVING A GOOD TIME. THIS PORCH DOES LOOK ENTERTAINING.

This isn’t classified as a tiny home.

Actually, anything can be classified as a Tiny Home that’s considered Tiny and is a Home for someone…

What it’s not classified as is a Tiny House because it’s a Park Model RV, but this company has branched out and does make a few Tiny Houses as well and may be willing to make customizations that most Park Model RV makers wouldn’t… Such as actually building it to HUD building code instead of RVIA, but that could raise the price quite a bit…

Now this one has usable space and more practical stairs, but for
me I would have to enclose the patio as a downstairs bedroom

Oh that’s an idea! I think Rich does have designs with downstairs bedrooms already, too 🙂

Have a husband in wheel chair. Any options for that situation?

Hi Teri! Here is something I wrote up on the topic of accessible tiny homes:
      — NextDoor Housing has a “Drop Home” that’s a larger park model you can use as an accessory dwelling unit. These are designed for aging relatives or folks with limited mobility.
      — FabCab’s homes aren’t specifically designed for the aging or handicap, but their designs are open and functional.
      — Elder Cottages are designed with aging relatives in mind, but they are all made ADA accessible. From the website, “Each of our homes is designed with accessibility in mind, from 36” wide openings and ADA showers to brighter lighting and accessible appliances. Additional mobility enhancing features are available, such as a vertical platform lift that can be fitted to the front porch for those unable to manage steps or a ramp.”
      — MEDCottages are intended to be a somewhat temporary ADU, but you could get creative. From the website, “The MEDCottage is a mobile, modular medical dwelling designed to be temporarily placed on a caregiver’s property for rehabilitation and extended care.”

Also, keep in mind that many tiny home builders build custom homes, which means it’s worth contacting them and asking if they could build according to ADA guidelines. It’s always worth asking! See our list of builders here.
