The Sapphire has a spacious open floor plan that is functional for hosting yet still has a homey feel to it. The kitchen has granite counter tops, a large single basin sink, an apartment size fridge and a oven with a four burner stove. The bathroom is located in the back of the tiny house, featuring a self composting toilet, stainless steel shower and a vanity sink. Above the bathroom there is a loft for secondary sleeping quarters or extra storage. Moving to the front of the tiny house, you’ll find a build in oak stair case leading to the master loft with a massive opening skylight and built in bookshelves. Back on the main floor you’ll find a closet opposite of the stove which stores the washer & dryer combo with storage space above it. At the front of the tiny house you’ll find a lovely open room featuring a custom bay window seating area with plenty of natural light and storage built in below.

$75k?? Here in California one can find similar amenities, with water catchments set ups for $40k. To similar homes in Ohio for under $25k. Which goes to show the prices for tiny houses sure vary across the country.
Can you link to some of the THs to which you refer? I researched THs in California and found them to be quite expensive. Maybe I was looking in the wrong areas or missed the builders you’re talking about.
California is a huge state. If you live in the greater L.A. area or the Bay Area, you are not going to find this quality home for $40K.
It is pricey but there’s a lot of great ideas inside for free. Lovely home.
stupidity is all over so someone will pay $75,000… but people this can be built in basic design by you for $25,000. plus… or for $10,000. more ,biult by a carpenter in a week. The extras another
10,000. People buy these because they are not rich. Financial grow up people.
I wouldn’t call anyone stupid over it. People pay a lot more for motorhomes every day. This is how much a company is asking to do it everything for you. It’s 100% free to look at it, if you want to save money, build it yourself. It’s really simple. If you call someone stupid, it doesn’t make it cheaper…

When considering price on these tiny homes always remember no land Is included so this home to me compared to another in today’s newsletter is severely overpriced. Again I believe that builders are trying to take advantage of the current craze but with companies such as 84 lumber entering this field with three models competition will drive prices down. 84 intends to offer it’s its first tiny home in THREE price points. Fully built, Partial build and shell only. That will allow those with any skill to get in for a decent price.
Definitely a lot of money just remember that brand new Airstreams costs even more. It’s all relative. And yes, there are definitely less expensive options out there like Tennessee Tiny Homes and Jamaica Cottage Shop.

The difference I see between this build and some of the less expensive builds is high end finishes and expensive hardwoods.
I said less expensive rather than cheaper because the workmanship in say, a Jamaica Cottage build is no less. They choose less expensive soft woods and I’m not sure that the wood is sealed throughout. The counter tops are generally not made of specialty materials, the appliances may be smaller. All small differences but differences that trim the cost of the build.
I like to buy the very best quality I can afford with the idea of not needing to buy again. I can see someone purchasing this THOW with that idea rather than as an experiment as has been expressed.
I wish the builders could give us an idea of the time it took to build. When I look at the pictures I see a lot of beautiful, labor intensive wood working that borders on functional art.
Well a used regular mobile home with a living room ,kitchen,bathroom, bedroom,and loft will run you around 62,000. But they are made cheaper. They don’t use 2x4s to build them. Tiny homes look like real little houses instead of boxes. It is a matter of choice. I’m 60 and plan on living in a cute Tiny house in a mobile home park when I retire. Mobile home parks charge around 450.00 per month for a lot. But that includes,water,sewer, lawn maintance. You have no property taxes to pay. You have neighbors in case something happens instead of putting it on a piece of property where you have no one to help you in case of an emergency. This is food for thought. But if you want to live like a hemit that is up to you. Tiny house communities are the same a mobile home parks. Except they all look like real homes.
