This is the Kasita, an ultra high-tech modular tiny house that comes in at 352 sq. ft.
These little dwellings are designed as either standalone AUDs or stackable units for cities where you need to build up rather than out. The super-stylish homes have everything you need including a high-end kitchen, spacious bathroom, and living area with a handy pull-out bed.

Took the tour. Very nice. No mention of storage capabilities or images for it. Otherwise, it’s certainly a nice looking turnkey residence that highlights the “lots of light” phrase and it’s at price point most people can afford with a loan, assuming the land and prep is not too expensive. However, there are no loans available for it yet, they state. It’s not considered an RV (no wheels). Consequently, a home loan would be necessary for most buyers. They also make the statement that you could get a loan after you put it on your property? How would one do that? Strange. If you need a loan to purchase this lovely little home you wouldn’t be able place it first then conjure a home loan.
Hmmm yes that is interesting! Definitely something you’d need to discuss with them further if you wanted to buy it.
Nearly $400/sq ft without land to put it? That is ridiculous. I think the statement that the Kasita is “cheaper” than rent in most big cities is misleading.
I agree with you Steve, people forget the Tiny movement was to downsize the space to downsize the cost of living. The housing community in it’s entirety has robbed everyone from finding the American Dream. From agents wanting to get high commissions to higher priced homes, to the banking industry (Watch the movie “The Big Short” ), to builders who mark up materials, to Designers who get their ego’s stroke by offering 352 sq.ft. units for $139,000. There is nothing I see that is Ultra High Tech just an Ultra High Price.
It looks nice, is a nice idea, but it fails to meet the needs of those who keep falling behind. I bet none of these people dare to get their spouses to live in one. They want the cash from others to live in Mansions.
The Tiny community needs to start calling out Profiteers who are enabling the traditional theft of disposable incomes that has weakened our tax base and economy. Wall Street and the housing crash in 2007 created the Tiny House movement, now they want to crash the movement with ridiculous prices.
My advice is do not buy a Tiny Home from someone who doesn’t live in one. They have never felt the pain and they could care less.
A 200K home that is 2000 sq. ft. is $100 a square foot. Profiteers are giving the movement a bad image, why? They are never going to live in one.
Very, very cool…! I like everything about this tiny house, it just draws you to it with all it’s features, like a moth to a flame.. A lot of hi tech equipment, and plumbing went into it as well, making it so futuristic, or ultra modern to say the least….! I am not a big fan of modern design, but you wouldn’t have to break my arm in order to live in it either… I think I would be very comfortable in this tiny house, but because of it’s design and all it’s fine accouterments, I believe it would be expensive to say the least…. Which is like the negative, or Hyde to this tiny dwelling….. Bottom line is would this actually be a viable tiny house for those who appreciate the modern design in tiny living..? Well I would have to believe it would be better as a rental unit in where I read it as being stack-able.. In which you can almost add them to any city area so long as it passes the building codes, inspectors, and zoning boards… And then it would make a great efficiency apartment for an up and coming neighborhood, were you can profit from it’s modern attributes…! It is a very nice, or cool design as I said in the beginning…!
