How many ways can I say I just it!!! Even if you have to go outside to go “potty”.?. Only one question, how do you get to the tub?? I’m 68, and my climbing abilities have gone from great to I’ll try it tomorrow, maybe. Love the deck. I could move in now. What a great job !!! Thanks for sharing…?

Love this! Just a few things I’d probably change for me would be an inside toilet and shower with an outside wood fired tub, regular table and a couple of chairs instead of a dinette and a daybed instead of the end bed.

A bathtub in the kitchen? Seriously? An outhouse? Seriously?
    Not for me…….

      December 18, 2016, 1:52 am

Well we wouldn’t be compatible… lol

I LOVE the idea of a bath IN the house. Stuff this outside bathtub idea I want to stay warm. Outhouses are awesome. Smell no invade de home. Ain’t so bad doing it outside, in an outhouse. Methinks you have become a slave to luxury. Something that a huge proportion of the world’s population do not have.

      • Janet
        December 18, 2016, 2:59 pm

        Hi Eric,
We may not be compatible, but I still like you! I don’t plan on living off the grid, so a flushing toilet is for me. I’ve spent too many years camping and using outhouses to know that I don’t want an outhouse for a permanent tiny house. About the bath being in the kitchen – I take showers. Something about friends being over and having to take a bath in the kitchen seems odd. I’m “free” but not that “free!” To each his/her own. I’ll come visit you and your outhouse and you can visit me and choose to use a flushing toilet or go outside and squat by a special tree! You’re cute.

Very adorable…I especially like the bed and the mexican tile along with all of the special cuts like the half moon on the outhouse door. However, I don’t “get” the tub in FRONT of the big window. I would much prefer an outdoor shower where I could splash!! Lol…also those claw tubs are usually very cold and take much hot HOT water just to warm it up and by the time I would put all 6″ of me in there, there would be NO warm water! The tub thing is just a personal preference….but, the window is weird even if u live in the country cuz u never know what might be lurking and I ain’t givin a reason for an intruder!

Really like most of this one, just has a cozy feeling, except for the tub in the kitchen area and the outhouse. But that can be refigured. No tub necessary, shower only leaving room for a toilet inside. Nice week-end get away tho . . . .

Out house is fine if it’s in a temperate climate as is an out door shower. I would put a large pantry /w a closet and fridge where the tub is. We are borderline preppers so we need food (pasta, rice, beans and dehydrated fruits and veggies) storage.

  • Paula
    December 18, 2016, 2:59 am

I love the look of this. How about a cover over the tub, turning it into a bench when not in use? And a solar collector for hot water, using thermo siphon to get it up into a tank. Works here for over half the year. The outhouse could be a compost privy if you have a source of sawdust. Works here…no smell, honest!
    Good job, all around.

People are missing the point. The claw-foot tub in the kitchen just makes the whole thing. If you are going to make so many changes, just go somewhere else to look for a bigger, more standard, boring model. This is unique, cozy, sexy, and utterly adorable!

It does have a hand held shower attachement. I am house-sitting a big old house at the moment that has this set up in the bathroom. For me, I would use the shower most of the time (I’m not particularly a bath person) and the tub to soak on the rare occassions I am abit achey, and you are hooked up to a good water supply, and the tub would double as my laundry. I have lived before for months on end without a washing machine of any type and hand washing in a bathtub becomes an easy routine to get into, no different to washing dishes each day.

Not everyones cup of tea but you never run out of clothes if you wash every day.

I love these articles and photos. I may not like the whole package but there is usually some idea that I can stash away for when I build my own wee house. There are many people who are better at thinking outside the box than I and I appreciate that ability. By the time I’m ready to build (hopefully next year), I will have most of the details filed away and it will be easy peasy!

I was raised on a farm that had no indoor plumbing, we had an outhouse and a bath house. This little home would be more than adequate for myself. My wife, on the other hand, was raised in a well to do family and was afforded all the comforts. She loved the little home, until she saw the outhouse. Love it.

I have been trying to squeeze a clawfoot/ladybath into my tiny design (I am not sure why I want one but I realy realy want one) and have just about given up but hey just stick it in the kitchen!

I love this wagon it is too cute for words.

  • January 5, 2017, 6:19 am

I LoVE everything about this!!! esp. the bathtub in the kitchen area! A private chef can cook me a meal any day while I relax in a dream of bubbles overflowing (should definitely be a drain under the tub as well for those over the top baths) overflowing from my champagne glass as well ;).

This is so Well Done! Super♥♥♥

-maybe a sit down toilet rather than a bench with a hinged pooper top. Those bench toilets can get a bit confusing if ya know whateyemean (each time yer sittn’on a reg. bench, it might bring on that ‘movement’ feeling/moment) Maybe turn the pooper into a cedar sauna and make an extra outhouse with a real porcelain sit’n’poop’n’flush into the hole toilet (it’s still compost-worthy into a much larger dugout, but don’t tell anyone, cuz i donut b’leive it’s totally legal, but good ’nuffer me). I’d also add a nice hose with a spray nozzle for quick cleanup and as a shower for cuz’n Benny. I’d hook up the nozzle and hose on the side wall outside just by the door for him.

I understand the architectural implications of putting the tub next to the kitchen sink because the plumbing is in proximity, however, I don’t know why you would want to bathe next to a spot that you prepare your meals.

Great design! I love the simplicity. Bathtub in the kitchen?? Awesome!! Its great and you can keep all the plumbing and drain stuff in one area. Only thing I would change if it was mine , would be in the bedroom semi loft, I would lower the floor . less storage underneath but more headroom. Those of us slightly over 60 need to make the nightly express runs to the biffy, and that would make it easier. Other than that , one of the best I have seen here.

Years ago in small apartments of the big cities, bathtubs in the main room/kitchen were not uncommon. This worked well with centralized plumbing and hot water. There was a cover over the tub and you used the tub as a table for dining/cooking/work etc…
Thinking of doing something similar in my own plan (not on wheels).

I love it! I have that same ceiling in my place and it makes me happy to look at it. I just bought a 4′ claw foot tub off of Craigslist for my newest tiny build. I didn’t even know they made them that small! Research said the small ones often came from the servants’ quarters of big mansions. My bathroom is just over 4′ wide, so the tub is not going in the kitchen! But if you want a tub, put it where you want it! That’s the great thing about designing your own place – nobody to answer to!

I absolutely love this!!! I am a Brit currently living in a dry cabin on the outskirts of Fairbanks. It is make of rough minimally prepared wood that you wouldn’t want to rub against inside….splinters! It makes me feel very close to the outside environment. So this tiny house is just up my street in terms of the materials used, the wood, the tiles in the walls, etc. I might want a tiny bit more space….maybe an amount on the ground floor that would be freed up by having a loft area. Other than that, this humble abode speaks to me loud and clear. These pictures will go into my Tiny House file for when I have enough money to build my own….hopefully still in Alaska. Thank you so much for pinning this.!!!

I don’t know how I managed to miss this. It’s fabulous. It’s a real home for real people. Even I’d be tempted.

Everyone has something they want changed and for me it’d have to be the bathtub. As long as there’s an outhouse, why not a tubhouse as well? A tubhouse with a view would hit the spot and just think of all that extra space to do something with.

What an amazingly sweet space!! I love everything about it, all the pretty tile work, the touch of white to brighten it up some and the outdoor potty is great as there will be no odor inside. One problem I have had with most tiny houses was no bath tub… this one has hit it out of the park! I am 62 and believe it would be much easier to get in and out of this tub with the high sides.
