Wow! Wow! Wow! I love this house! The porches and recesses make all the difference in making it feel spacious and cozy at the same time. Love the bath, the upstairs loft, and the way the kitchen is laid out. Yes! I could definitely live in this forever…

Holy cow! That’s bigger than my apartment! Too uptown for me but I’d love to get hold of some reclaimed snow fencing.

Thanks Alice! It is pretty spacious compared to lots of tiny houses and even tiny apartments too. It’s super nice though.

I really wish they had kept the kitchen as shown in the picture, but they’ve changed to the kitchen shown in the video. Other than that, I’ve been lusting for the Caboose for a long time, but the Wedge is also way cool! Thanks, Alex.

OMG, you NAILED IT, Alex, with this blog posting!!!! I don’t often save many of the home designs but THIS one is a Keeper! From the highly unusual application to the outside walls (can’t tell what it is) to the high end “Uptown” look inside, everything about this place is flawless…just flawless. I could wake up in that downstairs bedroom every day of my life and count myself blessed.

IF this was mine, the only thing that I would have to change is the dining arrangement. I have permanent nerve damage in one of my legs so I can’t sit on elevated stools or my circulation gets cut off. So, with some different furniture and placement, I’d need to put a standard table and chairs inside so we could eat our meals. But, this is MY problem and not others so I can see the broad appeal for the floor plan and furnishings.

This entry brought a serious smile to my face! 😀

What type of A/C is that

    • Peter
      April 29, 2015, 8:45 pm

That type is a split unit system… condenser unit outside and the head unit(evap coil) inside.. your refrigerant lines (usually 1-8 and 1-2 inch copper tubing lineset are run through the wall), and they are usually heat pumps.

Veeery tasty indeed. The only change I’d make is to rearrange the kitchen and living area so they’re not staring at one another. Absolutely love the way the porch visually extends the living area by way of using all glass and of course the fact that it literally extends usable living space. Even in very cold climates this design would still “bring the outside in” and visually extend the living space. For that matter you could add an outdoor wood stove, pit, fireplace or other heat source that would allow for more usable space even in cold weather. Just bundle up, light the fire, hold your hot toddy to warm your hands and ‘hang’. 😉

I love it. I would just like to know about the insulation and heat source. Living in Wisconsin, the winters get mighty cold.

I have an idea. For the person who did not like the high stools for eating. Make a normal height fold down table with regular chairs. The table could be folded down when not in use and the chairs could be turned around to be used in the living room conversation area. No one would know there is an eating area, it would be hidden. I have also seen a coffee table that converts to a regular table for eating when needed.

I’ve seen theses models on a Tiny House tv show and they were very expensive for being a mobile home, but they are really cool looking and would love the tiny model on my weekend property but will have to do with an rv for now.

For the person who needed a more “traditional dining set-up”, may I make a suggestion? There’s a WONDERFUL piece of furniture I’ve seen in many newer motorhomes called a “Hi-Lo Table”. It’s basically a low-standing coffee-style table, to be placed in front of a sofa or love seat. When you lift up on the table, it automatically raises up to a dining table height, and there are extra side panels that fold out to make it larger/squarer to fit more folks. So with a couple of folding chairs, you can seat 4 to 6 people for lunch or dinner. NICE!

Give me the keys and I’ll move in tomorrow!! I don’t care how you access the loft. That would be my son’s problem when he visits. I think access is on the right side, but can’t see it. I’d use the “dining area” for my desk. I live alone with 3 dogs so “we” eat on the couch. Love a bedroom big enough for king size bed. One of my dogs is a Great Dane/Doberman couch potato and needs a big bed!! Other 2 dogs are large and medium…yes, we do need a big bed! This is without a doubt my most favorite house I’ve seen on this site. Love the kitchen, bathroom, and the porches!! Drooling…that’s me not the dogs. I’m currently in 1,553 sq ft
and use about 500, but all rooms have “stuff” in them that I would gladly get rid of for this house. Sorry I’m rambling. Love it!

This house, while its stunning, will cost you $325k to buy, plus lot fees! This is NOT a tiny home.

      May 2, 2015, 11:30 pm

Yes, it IS a tiny house. Just because the price is more than you bargained for doesn’t change the SIZE of the actual house. And it’s gorgeous!

I do not see a 12 x 34 front porch, that would be 408 sq feet ! I see a front porch but it looks to be about 10 x 12 at the most ?

Yet another house I would love to have!
Tell me though, is it truely a good idea to place a stove that gets hot next to a fridge that needs to stay cold? Practical or not?

    • dea
      June 5, 2015, 1:45 pm

Funny you mention that Susanne, I had noticed on a few places the same thing and?…in my places I made sure to separate the two, I try placing a stove next to a window in case of (fire, ha) and burning food, easy to vent any fumes…it helps alot! Considering burnt popcorn of course, ew…

    • SteveDenver
      June 5, 2015, 7:44 pm

I lived in a small apartment and the stove was next to the refrigerator. I noticed before I moved in that the gasket around the refrigerator door had deformed in proximity to the oven and didn’t seal. I could stick a finger in the refrigerator without opening the door. Eventually I concocted a work-around, but I wouldn’t design a kitchen with those two appliances side-by-side.

  • Brenda
    June 5, 2015, 8:39 pm

Yes, 400 or so square feet looks a lot more possible, but here’s the deal-breaker: I am 5’4″ tall, and I have a bad back, so vertical clearance even in the loft must be at least 5’6″. Maybe the 690 square foot park model is a better option for me, eh?

We’ve been looking for some modern yet small to build in our backyard to accommodate living space for my mother. Building on to our existing home was one option but seems more cost prohibitive than finding something that is already built with the appliances and materials she wants. These are absolutely beautiful!

Alex, how much does a house like that run price wise. I am looking to downsize my house my wife and I are getting close to retirement I am only 54 years old but have 20 years with the company I work for. This 400 sq ft house would be nice.

    September 2, 2015, 3:31 pm

It’s amazing what a few more square feet can do for the feel and layout of a home.

    September 7, 2015, 5:42 pm

I don’t agree with the side by side refer./stove either. I live in an apartment at the moment and when we moved in the side of this refrigerator was already “warped” from the heat of the stove. So… if God blesses me with the chance I will never have them side by side in a build of ours. On the other hand, a dishwasher/stove close, no problem. God bless you all this is a beauty by the way and thanks for sharing it. Hubby would have to move it if moving. It’s too large axle wise for me. Happy trails!

This is just the right size for a vacation home in the mountains, nice lay-out and includes everything needed. I can see my husband an I coming up to our vacation property and just be able to enjoy the outdoors and even make a little cash on the side by renting it out while we are away. Hmmm now that I think about it maybe put two for if family wants to come up and additional rental income!!

A beautiful house, but way high in cost…! Hard to believe this house cost so much to build, to be sold at near a $100,000.00 in good hard earned green backs…! Makes you want to almost cry, but fear not fellow readers there are houses as equal or better and at not near the heart breaking price as this beauty….!

This is a beauty! I’ve gotten picky about tiny houses as the years have passed and realize that some things are NEEDED, like a nice bathroom. A real room and not a closet. Some need the downstairs bedroom and not the loft. As the years pass, most WILL need a bedroom downstairs. Imagine, at the age of 80, going up and down a ladder in the middle of the night! And that is the age when everyone will NEED to use the ladder in the middle of the night! A lot of thought went into making sure one can live here for the long haul….very well done!!
