Went to their site and looked at several other designs they’ve posted. These are jewel boxes infused with craftsmanship, artistry, affection and pride. Impressive and coveted.

You’re right! Amazing design, detail and flow! When do we get to see the interior?

    • July 8, 2015, 8:42 pm

I would love to take more photos of the interior… but I haven’t had a chance to make another trip to Oregon, where the house lives. Soon!

As you said amazing. Its not my style at all. However,
it looks great and has for sure features which are unique for this size of home. For example providing day light at the upper walls is a good feature for cross ventilation and privacy.
    Not cheap for sure.

I bet this model would sell like hot cakes Down Under. I’m always amazed by many of the elements in each Zyl house. the craftsmanship is jaw dropping and gobsmacking! I really love the ‘awning’ over the front door! And what about the curved glass inside… amazing. I love the swooping roof line; pretty amazing in itself and a never ending source of eye candy! Bravo! Another amazing creation! (Still want to see the interior pics when available. Thanks!)

It reminds me of a bird ready to take flight. Very whimsical~. I love the round windows & the framing around the front door. Would like to see some inside pic!

Hi Marian! You’ll have to enter your new email here: http://tinyhousenewsletter.com and confirm it (I have to do it that way because so nobody enters in the wrong email or someone else’s email and then thinks we’re spammers!)

Wood art. Deep sigh of contented appreciation. Many arcs make an Ark.

$80000. It is beautiful, but is this price reasonable?

Considering the man hours probably used to build this, plus the sheerly beautiful craftmanship poured into it.. I’d say definitely reasonable, as each home is a custom work of art!

Neat outside, but I need to see the inside to be really impressed. In short I was disappointed.

Wonderful the craftsmanship is top notch but one of my least favorites … I’d rather buy a Townhouse for 80,000.

I love Abel Zyl’s work. As for price, I would far rather live in a work of art that a condo.

The interior must be awful if no pictures of it were posted. Outside is amazing.

    • August 29, 2015, 2:52 pm

      Liz,
The interior is wonderful… but I haven’t had a chance to drive all the way out to Oregon to photograph it in detail. I only have a small handful of photos. I am a carpenter first… photographer, second. ; )

I am the owner of this house. I absolutely love it. Unfortunately, I have had a great deal of trouble with neighbors complaining to authorities about alleged code violations. It may legally be parked where it is, but nothing on wheels may legally be inhabited here. Believe me, I would like nothing more than to share publicly many shots of the interior, document systems and so on, because it’s gorgeous, highly functional and innovative. But such details, in the hands of those who “won’t tolerate anything unusual in the neighborhood” (their words), would likely be used against me. I won’t risk it. Meanwhile it chews me up to read people complain about the lack of interior shots, as if Abel had something to hide. He certainly doesn’t. If you’re seriously interested to see or discuss privately, Abel can put you in touch with me.

When the Architecture evokes the Organic Forms of the nature….The Door/Window is a real exclusive line of one designe style of high level. It is not easy to build a similar Struttura. Bravo!

This level of craftsmanship and artistry is rarely seen today. I am deeply impressed. As someone already said, I would rather live in a piece of artwork than a MacMansion or cookie cutter style house. The Ark is a bargain at the asking price. I would order one today if I thought I could legally place it on my land. We need to work together to get building codes, zoning laws changed to allow tiny houses in every community.

Todd , so sorry for your troubles. I hope things work out soon. Liz, it is obvious from the exterior and other builds that the interior could not be awful.

It is a very intriguing design. I see it as a work of art in which one can live. Looked at from that viewpoint, it is well worth $80,000. Many Tiny Houses look like a box with windows and a door. I do not find them particularly appealing. However, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I could not afford this kind of house, but the person living in it, is happy to have it. I would say he is living in a piece of artwork; and is fortunate to do so. It is a shame that his neighbors do not think the same way. If they lived near a park with contemporary sculptures or an art museum, would they be as rigid and inflexible? Personally, if a residence is well maintained with attractive landscaping, even if it is unique, I would be pleased to have it nearby.
