Why… Can u please tell me why somebody would try and sell this for that price? U can buy a heck of a nice toy hauler for half of 43.5 I’m not under standing the tiny house movement thing because people are trying to get a lot more for one that is twice the price of a normal house per sq foot

This is a little high but there are RV’s priced higher than this… A brand new 2017 Airstream Basecamp, which is smaller than this and is only a camper, goes for around $47,000.

Most of what you’d find cheaper are built very cheaply and aren’t intended to last very long without regular maintenance and repairs.

RV’s in general are built to very minimal standards and are not intended to be very durable but rather more easily towable and only really intended for recreational usages.

Tiny Houses on the other hand are built more like residential houses with the priority being making them as durable, energy efficient, and as livable as possible because they’re actually intended to function as homes.

Most of all Tiny Houses allow people to DIY or otherwise have the entire house custom built in any way they may want… That’s something you would only see in products priced in the hundreds of thousand and on up into millions price range.

Custom just means it can be done at just about any price range, depending on what the final product is designed to offer.

So some can do it very cheaply, but others may have some premium features that can add a lot to the price.

For example, on the lower end there was a fairly recent posting of a guy who built his own Tiny House for less than $10,000 and is now traveling the country with it.

While on the high end Tiny Houses can exceed $160,000, but this compares to RV’s that can exceed over $3 million! Like Will Smith’s custom Travel Trailer is worth $2.5 million…

While residential house prices actually depends where because there are places where the average price is far higher than other places and the actual national average for an average size house is around $300,000.

Houses in many of the coastline states run even higher as some of the recent posts on properties in places like California are showing.

While most residential houses aren’t built to the standards required to withstand both a hurricane and a earthquake at the same time, or have to deal with a wide range of environmental extremes because most residential houses never have to handle anything but what the local weather imposes on them and most never have to deal with such physical extremes.

Most residential houses also don’t offer things like the option to be able to function completely off-grid or to be easily moved among other advantages Tiny Houses provide.

Nor are residential houses optimized to make use of every square inch of space as most don’t even make full use of every square foot of space.

But residential houses can still range from around $80 per square foot to over $2000… How much a house cost to construct just depends on a number of variables like build quality, method and materials used in construction, and what features and amenities it offers when done, along with whatever is included like furniture and appliances.

Most Tiny Houses do start higher at around $200 per square foot but that’s mostly because you’re squeezing everything from a big house into a small house and things like the bathroom and kitchen actually make up the bulk of the cost of a house. So there’s just less wasted space in a Tiny House and thus more value per square foot.

While the highest priced Tiny House is still below $700 per square foot and that’s with everything ethically sourced, built by craftsmen and artisans, involving engineers and architects, and completely off-grid with a unique one of a kind design.

But this doesn’t stop some people from going below the averages as some have built their Tiny Houses in the $4500 to $5500 range or simply made something like a tiny cabin for as little as $300 with sourcing most materials locally any doing everything by hand…

Beyond the actual purchase of the house, Tiny Houses are actually far more economical because just about every form of cost is reduced… They cost less to heat and cool, they generally use less water, they are easier to clean, they require less maintenance and repairs, they are easier to renovate, they promote a less costly lifestyle, they don’t require as much to furnish, they can cost less to insure, you will generally pay little to no taxes on them, if off-grid you basically never have to pay a utility bill, etc.

It’s only costly if you want to live a nomadic lifestyle and constantly travel but a stationary Tiny House can have a fraction of the costs compared to a traditional foundation house.

Tiny House Giant Journey, recently commented on her monthly expenses for her Tiny House and she’s basically only paying about $137 a month and is saving so much that she’s traveling the world a few months every year.

Not everyone is going to get that good of a deal of course but generally people going into Tiny Houses are saving a lot in their daily expenses and that adds up to a lot more than what the house can cost them…

Besides, custom built means you can do it for just about any price… Especially, if willing to build it yourself…

So don’t take this one example and think it applies to them all… There’s quite a few that are actually offering a lot for the price.
