Teardrop Camping: How you can RV without Breaking the Bank

This post contains affiliate links.

I ran into this video on teardrop camping put together by a couple who really seem to enjoy traveling with their DIY micro camper.

If you’ve ever wanted to own an RV or miss it but don’t miss the cost of doing it you might want to consider teardrop trailers.

They’re small and lightweight, pretty inexpensive to buy and fairly easy to build one yourself.

Ever since I learned about them I thought they’re such a great way to travel and enjoy life without hurting the wallet too bad.

For lots of reasons, too. Not only are they cheap to buy or build, but they’re easy to tow. Some people even tow their teardrops with 4-cylinder vehicles so you don’t even need a truck to have one.

    Hi folks
You showed a neat kitchen that was inside a cabinate. My problem is that I can’t find it again. I thought that I had bookmarked it but can’t find it.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Argh! Makes me want to jump in the truck and head for the nearest TearDrop Round-up. What a blast. Love the simplicity. Thanks for sharing, reminded me of how we used to do things. The pop-up canopy is a great idea for lousy weather, too hot or too cold. Cute song, too.

Yep it’s about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on !

Have been a teardropper since late 07 and have been active in the tearjerkers group almost as long. Camping 4 to 6 times a year as a group and several weekend getaways alone. Have taken my teardrop to several friends parties and camped out the night after a bit too much celebrating for safety sake. It’s great to have a bedroom/kitchen on wheels !

I love it! I’ve been dreaming of owning a teardrop for years. There are so many variations, and if I was assured I could tow one across the country (and across at least 3 mountain ranges) in my 2006 Toyota Highlander, I’d get one in a heartbeat.

I pull one I built with a goldwing motorcycle, …. I’m sure you can pull one with your highlander. Check out little guy teardrops there the most basic light weight models that are manufactured if you can’t or don’t want to build one.

Wonder why they didn’t show the sleeping area? Must not have had the bed made I guess…

I agree, I want to see the sleeping arrangement and know the dimensions of the bed. Please.

Ever since my aunt and uncle camped in a teardrop back in the ‘5o’s, I’ve been fascinated by them.

This is a real nice one.
